Apparently the comp committee is going to present a rule where it will be a 15 yarder for dropping the N-bomb, and second infractions will be an automatic ejection. I bring this up for two reasons. One its rather lame considering the fact that I seriously doubt its anything other than black players calling other black players by this term. And even if Richie Incognito had the balls to say it to Vince Wilfork, Im sure Vince would be fine dealing with it on the next couple of plays.

The second more ominous portion of this deals directly with the skins name, and congress trying to have the word Redskin legally declared a racial slur. In effect, if they pass this rule about use of racial slurs and congress passes this law.... the Name change will basically be fate-acompli without another shot being fired. There is no way the NFL can inact a rule banning racial slurs in the game, and yet maintain a team name that has been declared a racial slur.

So looks like the league is going to do the dirty work on this name change thing after all.

You are probably right. It sure appears to me that the League, and the other Owners, sure must hate Snyder. They go out of their way to screw him at every opportunity. Can't say that I blame them.

It is a bit hypocritical; however, I think it's a good thing. I think that's a word no matter what ethnic group is using it is a term that needs to die. I don't understand why we fight so hard to keep a phrase that was used to basically define us as having less value then a dog is so important to keep. Just my opinion.

Snook... the flip side is by making it a forbidden word, you actually give it more power. Kind of like how people who practice homosexual acts have taken ownership of the word that was originally used as a slur for them. I could care less if some one uses that word to try and degrade me because I am actually secure in who I am and thus the word cant hurt my feelings.

I would agree with that, and I fill the same way in-terms of being secure in who i'm, but I look at our kids as a community and how its more associated with being linked to a thug life mentality. If I used the word punk or faggot which I use a lot now adays our entire nation is up in arms....Mostly i'm referring to a dude that's soft are weak and now i'm a "homophobe" . Meanwhile I don't see the same outrage when using the N-word. It's funny I see just as many White kids and Hispanic kids use this word as much as our kids. You bring up good points that can be debated, for me though it has to pass the mom test though lol.....I wouldn't dare talk like that around her. This is just my opinion, but like you I can't be degraded with words; i'm far to secure in my self for that.

Nope, you don't think white dudes in the league use the N-word you're greatly mistaken. If my memory is correct Cooper's team stood behind him; same with Incognito.

Opinion: NFL may throw flag on N-word, but what about the 'R-word'? - CNN.com

Shark - you called it. I expect to see more articles like this in the very near future. This guy probably represents about 20 people - give me a break. Again - I can live with it if they change the name. However - I have a problem with clowns like this guy getting even a few minutes in the spotlight. I just wish I were on that train & he tried to confront me about wearing a Redskins hat or shirt. Pathetic.
