I still think both hosmer and moustakas will be 30-35 hr a year guys. Moustakas will hit .275 and hosmer will be around .300. They are still kids.

I like the fact the Royals went for it last year and contrary to some I think they made it interesting for most of summer. I also get you need to change the culture and bringing in Shields sends a good message to the rest of MLB FA. The Tigers did the same with Pudge.

I also like the Vargas signing as he is under rated in my opinion. I think the Royals would benefit going after Infante a very under rated hitter and replace Getz at 2B.

Vargas is slightly below average and was signed to eat innings. His contract was too long but besides that it was eh. Nothing special.

Is this sarcasm? Come on kottaras was awful.

You underestimate the value of OBP. .359 OBP .719 OPS good for a WRC+ of 102 ( 2% above average is decent for a backup)

Yes, the defense was less than satisfactory, but he was a backup for a good reason, no?

Edit: War was .7 in 126 PA's. Iso of 190, with two years before that being above 200.

I dont underestimate the value. Pena had a great season as a backup offensively. 300 hitter to what georges 180. Both sucked at defense.

Perhaps this is my fault for not making this clear, but I was referring to a different Pena. Francisco Pena.

Edit: and just fyi, Even if it was Brayan, Brayan had a WRC+ of 93...

Ah ok, so what are the chiefs chances this week do you think? I still cant believe the patriots bested the broncos. I dont consider the pats as a legit super bowl threat.

20% chance of winning, it will basically have to be the Chiefs O scoring 30+, Denver Turnovers, and successful A-gap blitzes (should be obvious that it is coming with the circumstances) it really isn't a good position to be in If the Chiefs want to beat the Broncos.

Heard it before last year how crazy it was to get E Santana for the 12 million the royals paid for him.

J Guthrie has worked out just fine for the money also and was told how bad that guy was.

Vargas isnt suppose to be "special" or elite and what?the contract isn't too long. What 2 years? 3 years? is appropriate lengths, lo, well unless JV's is insainely too long. 4 years is very fair at what pitchers will go for 3 years from now, 8 mil will be average which Vargas is even as a lefty.

I will give the royals credit, they have gotten the return for the value paid...so far...that doesn't happen with pitchers very much...JV didn't do it last year, just an example, don't go all "your a hater" on me, just using an example that you understand...there were a lot of pitchers who didnt give the return for the money.

completely depends on Hali and Houston...thats really the only chance the Chiefs have, unless Smith does what he did last week.

Report out of KC ("Kings of Kaufman" site) ... saying that the Royals should deal some bullpen pieces to get Rick Porcello from the Tigers. The article specifically mentions Aaron Crow and Tim Collins, who have been made "available" on the trading block due to arbitration eligibility.

Royals Should Use Bullpen Depth to Trade for Rick Porcello - Kings of Kauffman - A Kansas City Royals Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

This is the second rumor I have heard now about the Royals inquiring about a Tigers player (2nd time including Porcello). However, they seem to be possibly be preoccupied with a very similar deal, but for Dexter Fowler of the Rockies. And as a bonus, Wade Davis could be traded? ( A Royals fan can dream)

edit: Forgive my initial snafu with the Fowler link, I was arguing about Espinosa earlier on another site.

holy crap, Porcello is W Davis or A Crow, all came up as starters and who shouldn't be starting in the majors......they are all middle relievers

Luke Hoch for Porcello would be funny to see though...I would be ok with that, Luke having finally 1 good year, as a RP, sell high
