I got invited to play in a 12 team PPR league. I have only played one season standard scoring about 3-4 years ago and actually did very well as I made it to the championship. That said, I haven't paid attention to fantasy since then. I was hoping you guys could give me some tips and pointers on here regarding our draft which is on Sunday.

I know pass catching running backs are highly valued, but beyond that I'm not really sure what the best approach is here. When it was a 10 team league I was picked to draft first. Then we added two more and now I'm last :gaah:. It is snake draft though so it might not work out too bad. Could you guys give me some insight here on how to approach this?

I'm a big fan of the last pick in this particular draft

What I've seen so far is the truly elite Running backs are not on the level of the truly elite WRs in that spot

The chance to land Beckham and Julio at 12 is actually realistic, and grab some upside backs with your 3rd and 4th picks

Than again, a possible pairing of Melvin Gordon and Dalvin Cooke isn't too shabby at all if that opportunity presents itself

I guess the best approach is the 2 very best players in that first 2 spots, and build from there

Picks 12/13... There are five WR and eight RB to consider.
Gurley, D. Johnson, Bell, Zeke, Kamara, Gordon, Hunt and Barkley. (Some would add Fournette and Cook to this list)
A. Brown, Hopkins, OBJ, Julio and M. Thomas (Some would leave Thomas out, or add Adams in)

36/37... All about value, and maybe depends on who you chose first/second. There is a large group of WR in this area. Hard to choose between. There is also a drop off coming at RB, so some may want to ensure they have depth at this point.

5/6 turn... Value at QB? If one of the top five are still around, maybe. Do not be afraid to wait...lots of QBs.
TE might be a good time to take a hard look.
Basically, from 5-10, you'll notice a healthy grouping of WR, imo

RB depth. Make sure you have it. 3rd down backs have a value bump.

Thanks guys. Any good resources you’d recommend for me to do homework on before the draft or throughout the season?

rtsports.com/siriusxm is a good 14 team draft that you can look at... it is "experts"

fantasypros.com is great for general info and ADP data

rotoworld.com good for news (rarely like their analysis, but the news blurbs roll pretty steady from about 8am EST until about 6 or 7pm EST

You are basically guaranteed 2 good WRs in rounds 3 and 4. Would be tough to pass on ODB or Hopkins here, but unless 1 of them falls, RB/RB I said How I would roll.

And, 1 of those RBs really should be be mcCaffery. It looks like a slight reach, but he led all RBs in targets last year, and now will be used like a 3 down back. I bet he will be a top 4 overall pick next year in PPR leagues. The other backs in that neighborhood just don't have the upside. Pairing him with Hunt or Gordon would be ideal.

I am also strongly avoiding Dalvin Cook at that spot. The Vikings are going to handle him with kid gloves, at least early on, and his backup is pretty darn good. Let somebody else regret drafting Cook in round 2.

Check Evan Silva's top 150 ranking on Rotoworld. He is hands down the best in the business.

This is a winning statement here. If you go CMac/WR you actually may have a shot a Jordan Howard on the way back. Think he has a big year.

I took him and Gordon with 12/13 in my draft. I couldn’t be happier with my team.

Yeah, I had a PPR draft on Sunday. Chose 9th.

I took Gordon first, hoping Cmac made it back. I had buyers remorse as soon as I made the pick. About 8 seconds later, CMac went at 10.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Gordon. He is a safe RB1. McCaffery will just be better, IMO.

They are saying they want him as the bell cow back. If he can rush for 1000 Yards, he could easily have a 2k total yardage season. I think that’s a very real possibility.

I’m also glad I got a safe stud at running back too. I also got shady McCoy, but had to settle for Allen Robinson, Marvin Jones, and Larry Fitzgerald at wr. Not the greatest to choose from.
