Really all the young guys have been playing significantly better the last 2 months. Patrick, Lindblom, Sanheim, Konecny, Laughton, Provorov (couple monster games lately), and even Ghost has looked better. Then obviously Myers coming up, he's been good as well.
This is right on the money!

3 points behind BJ's and Canadians (1 head to head) and 5 behind Hurricanes (2 head to head). Keep winning baby!!!!!!
I cant understand how we only have a 9% chance of making the playoffs at this point.

I think that he overdid the patience some of these kids were already better than the AMacs of the world....

I agree that he overdid the patience. In some instances I would say that fell on Hak though, Sanheim last year being the biggest example. Hextall had him up on the NHL roster and Hak wouldn't play him. Even this season he mostly used Sanheim as a 3rd pair guy.

At the same time though, it's really difficult to know if the 'over-seasoning' played a part in them being able to jump in like they have. That's the risk you run as a team-builder like Hextall. If you do it slow and steady, give the guys lots of development time, and they come up and look like they belong right away, everyone will always say they waited too long.

So we all agree the Hextall Regime was killing this team?

I won't go that far. Holding them back a little bit, yes, but definitely not killing them. Hextall was responsible for bringing in everyone but Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Raffl, Laughton, and Hartman. He put a lot of pieces in place for this team to be good for years to come.

He didn't cut it that's why he isn't in Philly anymore.

Yep. Not an uncommon thing. To see one 'builder' GM get all the young pieces in place and then have a different GM come in and take it the rest of the way. It's difficult to switch your plan/personality so drastically. Most are good at one, but not at the other.

Same thing for coaches. Good with the young guys / development and good with the vets / making a push at the cup, often takes at least 2 coaches to make that change.

I think we'll know if the Flyers are in the playoffs or out of it by the end of the Montreal game on Tuesday. Gauntlet coming up and they need wins to keep pace.

The only night I can remember where they've gotten any help at all was after they lost to the Caps last week.

Tough one. But that's what makes the climb so difficult, have to pick up points even against cup contenders.

Habs also lost at least, so they stay 5 points out.

Lol I guess las is the glue that holds this board together. Then again what can really be said. Someone said earlier we can probably only drop 2 games, well now its one.

Well, it's been a fun rollercoaster season boys. The suspension to Voracek hurt. Bettman can kiss my ass on his two game suspension. We pretty much need to almost certainly win out to have Any chance at playoff. Not seeing it, but again I didn't see this team getting hot to make a run either.
