You're both right. If you aren't an all-star at 21 time to pack your bags...
How can we be both right when i have said to send them down for seasoning and Bacon says to get rid of them. If you are going to comment on posts please read them first.

Ok, so how long do you keep going with these guys? Also a lot of people posted this same thing already before me so why pick my comment out, and lastly am I not entitled to an opinion?
That is called a hit and run. Post on the board every once in a blue moon just to shoot down someones idea of how to make a last place team better. Maybe he likes where this team is right now. :bolt:

Maybe not move on from the but how about Lindblom and Patrick get sent down for a while to maybe gain some confidence back. There is no accountability on this team for playing bad.

I hope he's as pissed as the rest of us. We as fans deserve better and some players on the team who do actually show up deserve better. As I've said, I wouldn't hold a grudge at all against Roo if he left this mess for a better ending to his career.

My point was not to offend you, so if I did offend you I apologize. The idea of staying put is frustrating to me and that may have shown.

My point regarding youth is not every prospect the flyers have is going to be an all star so we should stop treating that as so. If you can capitalize on potential to get proven NHL players I don't think that just because you are under 22 you should be untouchable. The teams that seem to be successful in this league though, do have young players that are actually contributing not participating. That's the only way to compete with the contracts that the veterans get.

I get what you're saying. This season is basically Murphy's Law. In the beginning of the year, they couldn't get anything that resembles decent goaltending, but the team was playing well enough to win. Now, Hart has provided SOME stabilization in goal and the rest of the team looks like shit.

I just can't believe that a team that made the playoffs a year ago with virtually the exact same roster is now the worst in the league and must have a complete make over. 90% of this team didn't just lose all their skill over the summer. Provy is the best example. A year ago everyone on the is board was lauding his ability and some suggesting locking him up to an 8yr/64mil contract. I honestly believe its a teamwide slump and the season is in the shitter. Might as well tank it all for Hughs at this point. A few tweaks in the off-season, bring in Q and I fairly certain everyone is singing a different tune next year...

OK and we can disagree on that. I think I am looking for more than a "tweak" as I do think the same issues have always plagued this team when they play bad, for as long as this core has been here. I think they need to send a message and that doesn't necessarily require the "blow it up" scenario.

Simmonds is most likely gone but I think another trade that involves a vet with a larger contract needs to be made that turns over this weird inconsistent make up we have been troubled by.

I'm curious as to the general thoughts on the who the core is that is referenced to be perennial failures? When I hear core that has been around during this inconsistent run I think G, Jake, Simmer and Couts. I think we all agree Simmer is gone at year's end. I personally do not see G or Couts as the issue, so that leaves Jake to move out. Am I missing someone?

No your not missing anyone, and Jake should be the one on that big contract list to go.

Jake is the guy I would like to see go the most. I really like Couturier as a player and I think G is a great player in this league, so teams are going to want them more than Jake.

Don't know if you guys caught JJ and Jonesy talking with a hot mic after last nights game lauding his (and Weise's) game and effort. They didn't know they were being recorded but it's pretty telling, if those guys are talking bad about individuals that it may have roots in people within the org telling them these guys are the problem.

Little tweaks have been going on for 7 years with zero results.

2 Gm's fired
4 soon to be 5 coaches fired
The bottom 6 turned over several times
The defense turned over several times
Goalies turned over several hundred times
Lines have been changed and changed and changed and changed
Trades have been made
Free agents have been signed
Old players have been brought in
Young players have been brought up

All leading us to the mess we are in today.
There has only been one constant with all of these changes. Can anyone guess what that constant is?

Interesting. Jake is called out, albeit in a hot mic situation and not overtly publicly, and he has one of his better games in recent memory. Oh the team still lost. The same mistakes were still made..."Let's be sure to leave someone in a high risk area all alone guys, its our team defense scheme!!"

It's just sad. This was one of the premier organizations in the NHL. Even if they didn't win the cup, they competed every year. Winning was important from the Owner to the ticket taker. The fans, insanely loyal.

Now, well, we are seeing it.

As to who is the Core? Look at who is consistently been "protected" by the organization since Laviolette. That would be Giroux, Couturier, Voracek, Simmonds. While Raffl has also been here, his role in the team (mostly due to injury) was greatly reduced. For better or worse, this is the result of building around these players and allowing their voices and personalities to shape the team. It was said alot after last season that there were a lot of people in the organization not happy with Voracek. They questioned his attitude and work ethic. Simmonds has demonstrated over and over again a willingness to just quit on plays in his own zone that cost the team not just goals, but points in the standing. People say he is "great in the room" but if he was, why has this team been such a consistent slow starting team his entire time here?

Can you tell where I think the issues lie? I like Jake, but I think he is just unhappy here. Simmonds, I think can be an effective player in a role. Both should be shopped, as should Gudas, Weiss and JvR (who has no movement protection besides the length and Cap Hit).
