Something to build on

Yep. Looked much better tonight. Faster, more aggressive. Liked the line combos.

Sanheim 3rd on the team in TOI (Prov/Coots).
JvR 1G 1A, +2
Hart 20/22 and the W

And they were taking the body

Far from perfect but a good start.

Some practice time will help.

Tough one against the Preds next.

I think that Fletcher has their attention now. It's like they were waiting for something to happen and it did. I'm just happy that they played better in front of Hart. Hopefully they keep it going. If they do and make the playoffs a lot of fans will be eating some BBQ'd crow...

Forgot to mention that on Hockey Central the guys were saying how they missed the real FLYERS. How they aren't the bad guys and don't take penalties anymore. The league isn't the same without them anymore blah blah blah... I wished that I could have told them to blame the BHL for that!!! After all its in bettmans rulebook to instantly give the Flyer's a penalty to anyone that has a pulse...

It's true to this day, really. We're ranked 5th most in the Nhl at 10 penalty minutes per game and we don't even dress any thugs, enforcers or tough guys...Lol We were in fact one of the last teams this season to get a fighting major. So, that means we're getting flagged for a ton of minor penalties.

I was excited to watch the game last night, but unfortunately slept in and missed the first two periods. We did alright in the 3rd to get the win, but I don't think the Wings threw much at us either. They are one of those teams that we're better then, but are still technically ahead of us in the standings.

It's pretty wild that the last time Detroit beat us in regulation in Philly was on my 13th birthday and I am turning 35 next month...Lol It's almost like they are forever cursed since they swept mighty Lindros and the Legion of Doom line in the Cup Finals. My God, what a depressing memory!!

Great for Carter Hart though to get his first career Nhl victory in his first chance at only age 20. With all of the troubles we've had in net to date, you have to wonder what he has to accomplish to stay up with the big club for the remainder of the season.

The plan may be to give him a taste and send him back down once Elliott gets healthy, but I'm sure this kid has other ideas. He's been given an enormous opportunity. Let's see what he can do with it.

I didn't get to watch this game, but what was your overall impression of Hart? Did it seem like the team kind of rally behind him, more defensive support, did he appear to have that IT factor between the pipes? Nice way to start the NHL career.

I saw just the one period, but based on that and the recap, he made a few nice stops, but was largely untested and only faced 22 shots altogether. Blashill said the Wings gave him an easy game and he's probably right, but also trying to light a fire under his guys.

It's a joke that we slacked off enough to fall behind that team in the standings. Not for much longer, I imagine.

Define Irony...

In the 10,000 Posts for a Flyers Stanley Cup in 2019 thread we get probably double the amount of posts following a loss than following a win :noidea:

Got to watch the whole thing I would say this applies to all 3 periods. He made some nice stops, but there really wasn't anything incredibly difficult thrown his way. One goal against was a pass from below the goal line to an open guy in the slot, the other was a really solid screen from an unmarked Vanek. Not a ton he could've done about either.

One critique I had, he looked a little nervous playing the puck. Some hand offs with the dmen were a little sloppy. That could just be a new goalie with new teammates though. Once they develop some chemistry that could get better.

I have to say, I loved the support the fans gave the team last night. Especially Hart. He was getting partial standing ovations for covering the puck. Heard a few 'lets go flyers' chants over the broadcast. It was nice to see.
