Stolarz coming back from ACL surgery

Hextall wasn't going to go in to the season with Lyon as the only guy (other than Hart) in good shape, so he claimed Pickard. Once he did, the Flyers already congested goalie circus got even more crowded.

Stolarz is still getting back in to game shape from the ACL injury, that's why he's in the AHL. Lyon, I would be fine with Lyon in the NHL. But I do think Flyers fans overrate him. Ya, he looked fine/good in his starts last year, but he played in 11 games and had a pedestrian .905 sv% / 2.75gaa. It's not like he was a world beater in that very small sample size. That's why Pickard is there instead of him.

If Elliot is actually hurt I think you'll see a Pickard/Lyon combo for a bit here. That's a bit scary.

Lyons .905% and 2.75 GAA looks like hes Patrick Roy compared to Elliots .893% and 3.10 GAA

Yep and you'll get flashes of good tending from Picks but not sure what you would get overall as a starter. His experience isn't great either.

He was claimed on waivers so i would think he should be our AHL goalie and Stolarz or Lyons should be playing right now.

Well I hope it gets figured out soon, if Pickard is just a stop gap, then he def needs to be 4th or 5th on that depth chart.

Gee- minus 2 only 1 shot 3 face offs won 8 lost
Lindblom- Plus 2 and 2 assts
Folin Gudas and Prov 10 blocked shots
Pickard played well but still only .886 save %
Weal 1 goal 4 shots won 4 face offs out of 6
Patrick a goal and plus 2

So pretty clear depth chart for the Flyers in net, for one reason or another

Elliot - starter when healthy
Neuvirth - backup when healthy
Pickard - not waiver exempt, fear of getting claimed if they do waive him
Lyon - waiver exempt, easiest guy to swing back and forth from the AHL
Stolarz - at least until Hart rights the ship in the AHL, I think they'd call Stolarz up before him

With Elliot, Nevurith, and even Stolarz being varying degrees of injury prone, I don't blame them for wanting to have 6 goalies in the system.

Yeah overall pretty good Pickard steady which is all that they need. All lines doing their job now nice to see. D playing steady even pairings.

Yea I hope Nuevy is gone, he just hurts our team all around these days, he got his little paycheck so he's all set. Stolarz needs to be brought up to share time with Pickard until whatever really ails Mr Elliott gets better. If you can get 2 guys like Picks and or Stolarz/Lyons to be healthy and gaining confidence I think we will fair better, We still will get bounced from the playoffs with this tandem though~! Also this team seems to play better around Pickard?

Damn! Of course I have to drive Over Wolf Creek Pass at 3 a.m. and of course it's snowing there, nothing like trying to get over one of the worst passes in the snow! Oh well at least I have chains!
