Not for the price NY paid. The Royals/Indians model works if you have the front end starting pitching.

The Yankees don't.

They sold off their relievers last year. They're buying relievers this year. Both teams had comparable title aspirations.

The only reason the Yankees arent in first place by a few games is because of their BP, and because their record in one run games is dreadful, and they just added 2 excellent arms in the pen

And give up on the "Yankees arent contendors" dream, its almost August, and BEFORE this deal, they were one of the 2 wildcard spots in an eminently winnable division
