We can probably forget about the Lakers pick ... they'll finish top 3. Our own pick though will likely end up in the top 5 or 6 as Embiid won't play much from here on out and Ilyasova/Noel are gone and they contributed to the few wins we do have. The team is back in tank mode.

@Rey I thought that regardless how the Lakers finished that we would get there pick? How many years are they protected from surrendering the pick over to us?

Top 3 protected this year ... I think it as will become unprotected next year if the Lakers don't surrender it in this draft. I also think we have an unprotected 1st from Sacramento in 2018. I'm not 100% sure on it ... so if anyone who follows this a bit more than I would like to chime in :)

This would be the ideal draft to get these picks. I have heard that this is a pretty stacked draft from years past? That would be nice to fill the cupboard. My concern is Colangelo screwing this up. Hinkie set the future up nicely for the Sixers imo.

Lakers pick is top 3 protected this year and completely unprotected next year. We get it no matter what in the 2018 draft (and they will still suck so I probably prefer it deferring). The Sac unprotected pick is in 2019.

They Sixers have no choice but to tank because Hinkie screwed the franchise up. While his process may have had some merit he fucked up completely on his drafts. 3 years in a row the Sixers took a big man. That is just flat out stupid. Nothing was done to build the team to compete. We just took the best big man and let it go at that. Today's NBA is not built around the center like it was in the past. I think Joel Embid is going to be a serious stud but he needs pieces around him.

This moron Colangelo is going to ruin this team. He trades Noel (who I was in favor of trading) for literally nothing. Anderson, who is not likely to be a rotation player, and 2 second round picks. Our clueless, snake-oil salesman of a GM is out running his mouth at the press conference saying he got a 1st round pick for Noel, but he conveniently left out the part that Dallas would have to go 24-2 the rest of the season to reach the 19th pick (it's protected 1-18 this year otherwise 2 2nds).

We will be saved by Embiid and Simmons' talent in the end (assuming health), but I have no doubt Colangelo is going to piss away the treasure trove of assets Sam Hinkie left him.

I can't believe this idiot is our GM.

Agreed with everything. I'm not sure if Colangelo is an idiot or just a pathological liar. Maybe both.

Hinkie's plan was to "zig" when other teams "zagged" to acquire as much talent as possible. I'm not sure what he would have done to fix the problem of having three big men (plus Saric and Simmons), but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have screwed it up as badly as Colangelo. Colangelo is terrible, has no vision for the team, and just flat out lies to the fanbase to protect his own ass. If the team was going to be stuck tanking for another season, they would have been better off just keeping Hinkie here.

Colangelo is a bum and Adam silver should be shot for fucking up this franchise so blatantly and forcing this idiot nba offices child on us as a GM. Words can not express the disrespect he showed our entire city. Hinkie told us exactly what he was doing and then successfully executed on it. Colangelo has no fucking vision and no respect for the efforts it took to fill a bare cupboard here.

So, season over and we ended up with the 4th worst record and the Lakers with the 3rd worst. Even if we don't end up in the top 3, we will be either 4 or 5 which is still in a great spot to add a talented player.

We must end up in the top 3 so then we get the 4th pick too!!

Fucking Adam Silver better fucking die if he gives the Lakers the first pick.

We could fall as low as 6 or 7 . . . but it's unlikely. And if we did, there's a chance that Sacramento is one of the teams that leaped us (which means we'd be able to use the pick swap.)

Right ... but 6 or 7 would mean two or three teams outside the top 3 worst records snuck in which like you said is very unlikely. If one sneaks in not being us or Sac then we would just drop to 5. I'm good with Dennis Smith or De'Aaron Fox even if we can't get into the top 3. Even Malik Monk if we're at 6 or 7.

If we bounce to six or seven, then it's more likely that the LAL pick conveys.
Worst case scenario would be picking sixth with two teams jumping us and LAL manage to snag a top 3 pick.

As per lotterybucket :
14.7% to pick 1
15.14% to pick 2
15.43% to pick 3
9.85% to pick 4
31.58% to pick 5
12.5% to pick 6
0.8% to pick 7

We have 147 ping pong ball combinations.
LAL have 156.
Boston/Nets have 250 to give some perspective.

Evan at worst case scenario of 6 we'd still get a top addition to the team. Figure Fultz, Ball and Jackson will be 1,2 and 3 regardless or order. Still leaves D Smith, D Fox, J Tatum and Malik Monk to chose from. Any one of those guys would be an excellent addition. If we get that Lakers pick it would really be like hitting the lottery with "two" of these players!

Any PG/SG taken has to be solid on defense.

If we get two picks, I might just go with best athlete among Jackson/Tatum/Isaac and then select Frank.
With Simmons running point, I want defenders like Frank and TLC that can harass the 1s and 2s of other teams all game long.

If we got two picks, I would also consider trading down with SAC to pick up 8 and 10 and keep adding more parts, essentially giving you three lottery picks to hit on just one. If you feel there's not much separation after pick 3 and Jackson is gone, then I consider 4 for 8 and 10.

Regardless, it's going to be fun and there are going to be options.

We're sitting pretty now with one and possibly two lottery picks. We have a better than 50% chance of getting the Lakers' pick thanks to their very poorly timed winning streak at the end of the season in total garbage time.

I like De'aaron Fox at PG and I think we should have a shot, maybe two, to get him.

Kid looked awesome head to head against Ball. Man is he fast. Shooting is a big question mark though.
