i agree.... he had 600 yard with the saints not to shabby good blocker 2sm is gone , from an exploritory standpoint , seeing if he is a stop gap doesnt hurt us .

they may want him to get the ball in the end zone
those older guys do that . that is a role he can haveWait, RBs actually do that??![]()
b/c he traded down when the best RB was still on the board.
That has NOTHING to do with every GM valuing DJ over Jones. If GMs knew who DJ was he wouldn't have fallen that far. Arizona got lucky. It happens. Who cares.
Who cares? he traded down b/c he had a higher grade on Jones than Johnson. Why cant you see that?

Every team passed on him twice, in some cases three times. The Cards got a bit lucky in taking him in the 3rd round. What part of that do you fail to see? Or are you so desperate to say that Scot was WRONG that you will hang on this point. A large part of the draft is sheer luck. NO one know Brady was going to become what he did. Romo and LFB were both undrafted players. For fuck sake, maybe he traded down and DID have Johnson rated higher, but NOT worth the 5th pick in the 3rd round. Maybe he thought he would still be there at 31, and when he wasnt, he took the next best player on his board.
Hind sight is always 20/20 Dean. Funny how you dont get that. Or IM guessing you do, but it wouldnt fit into your idea of how this team is so much better off without him in the building.

1. You can't know that. SM could still have had Johnson higher than Jones. They weren't both on the board when we picked so we don't know.
2. You originally said "SM was the only GM in the league who had Jones ahead of Johnson". Which is a ridiculous claim because a) as I just said in point #1 you don't even know he had then in that order and most importantly because b) how tf could you possibly know what every other GM in the leagues board looked like.
The ONLY thing we know for sure about teams preferences between the 2 is that the Cardinals had Johnson ahead of Jones. That's it.
Then why trade down if Johnson was his highest ranked RB at the time we picked? It doesn't make sense. He wasn't high on Johnson or Coleman from Atl. He felt Jones was better or just as good. That is crazy. That is why I am calling him out over this. We were in the market for a RB at that time. This should have never happened. Plus Johnson and Coleman offered more in the passing game than Jones. Gruden likes RBs who can catch so that is another reason why it was such a bad trade down.

Maybe because he didnt feel DJ was worth the pick. He still couldve valued DJ over Jones. What you are doing is freaking out over a random 3rd round pick from 2 years ago. Every team misses (in fact the best teams miss about as often as the bad teams but Ill save that for another post). The Cardinals got lucky. We got unlucky. Oh well. Move on.
And to clarify - you claimed SM was the only GM to have Jones over DJ. Are you still arguing that?
This woulda/shoulda stuff is nonsense. All GMs makes mistakes & nobody has a perfect draft. Why wasn't JJ Watt picked much higher? How about Richard Sherman? Antonio Brown? Tom Brady? Russell Wilson? Dak Prescott? Kirk Cousins? etc, etc, etc.
Also again - Allen was part of the team that made the RG3 trade which was much, much worse than anything you are stating here. You are just pissed since you think that the Redskins made the worst pick ever by drafting a guy who became an all-pro guard - crazy. It must be nice being the president (and only member) of the Bruce Allen fan club.
Disnt say people were perfect in the draft but when you pull a move like that and trade down for an unknown over a guy who was highly rated be prepare to be critized.
FWIW, Shanny and Synder were part of the RG3 trade. First of all the was a QB and has no relevance to this argument. 2nd Shanny was against giving up the last first round pick we gave up but Synder did it anyways out of desperation. What you forget is that the Browns offered more than the Skins for RG3.
Dean I find it strange you are all over Scots ass for making the mistake on Jones.
But you give Bruce a pass while he has been the key figure between two of the Worst moves in Franchise history.
Bruce alone configured the Haynesworth deal, sure Danny signed off on it, ut Bruce was behind the move 10000%
Bruce was the mastermind behind the RG3 trade. Again Dan was all for it.
But a GMs job also includes being able to keep an owner from making stupid calls. If not for Scot, we would still be starting the likes of Casey Rabach and possibly Tom Compton on the O-line. Sure we might have picked Williams over Scherff (your real issue with Scot by the way) But how much do you really think he would have improved our defense?? Lets be real, we went out and got Norman who you were all pumped over, and our defense STILL got worse. Scot might not have drafted some of the players that are doing well for us, but he was the sanity in the room that kept Dan and Bruce from running this team like an Xbox ultimate franchise mode for the last two years.
But you are apparently excited with Bruce back in charge, maybe because Bruce will make the Mayock-centric picks you tend to favor.
That is my point. If Sm felt Johnson wasn't worth the pick that was a serious problem. He thought there were just as good players by trading down and there wasn't. That is a mistake. Forget these crazy examples you guys are giving.
