How many people would read a story that says "SM is not at the combine. While this is certainly big news we will report nothing until we have confirmation. See you next week"
Come on Sportster, they were digging to learn the reason because that is their job. If their research turns out to be accurate, and it's looking more likely by the minute, then why on Earth are they being criticized?
Some of you will look very foolish when SM is let go and the real story comes out, which it always does.
What you seem to be missing is there's nothing wrong with media doing analysis unless they're reporting their opinions as facts. There is reporting, and there is analysis. Both are fine - as long as they present the reporting as reporting and the analysis as analysis.
LOL SM, his wife and the president of the team have no reason to deny a damaging report on SM right? No reason what so ever to lie? What motivation does the unknown source have to lie when compared to those 3?
Guilty until proven innocent - apparently the new American way at least in the eye of the media & the general public. This was the same logic applied towards the Duke Lacrosse team in which the story turned out to be 100% BS. Just asking that people get the actual facts before jumping to conclusions.
You pull one example from a decade ago to make the claim that this is the way it is now? My point is relying on the word of SM's wife is kind of silly as she obviously has a reason to lie. What possible reason would a source have to lie about something as serious as this? Just trying to apply a little common sense here. One side has no real reason to lie, the other has a very very strong reason to lie.
As to your other post I said the same thing, i would gladly be happy to be wrong if it meant SM is really at home grieving his grandmother's death a month later if it meant all will return to the way it was. But again I am simply using common sense and concluding that it's much more likely that a man fired from his previous 2 jobs despite great success had the same problems surface again.
It is not necessarily a lie - just people speculating without having all of the facts - they rely on rumors, sources, etc. Perhaps they are not blatantly lying but just speculating. Why are you so anxious to know everything at this time? Why not just wait for a bit & find out the actual facts?
BTW - why would the media perhaps act in a careless manner? Easy - to sell advertising & whatever it takes to attract related business.
I don't how you managed to not understand what I said, but you did it. Either that, or you get a kick out of arguing for the sake of arguing.I am not missing anything, You need to read what the fuck I said. Analysis is not news, that is MY opinion.I did not say it shouldn't be done.
Maybe we are arguing over semantics. News to me is something known. Analysis is opinion. Nothing wrong with opinion. I have lots of them. I'd say everyone here has opinions or they would not be here.
Look SoCal you can believe the grandmother story if you want to. I am not buying it for a second. I think this is a real story, I think the media is being unfairly criticized for simply doing their job, I think we were naive to dismiss SM's drinking turning into a big problem when he was hired, and I think we are back in the hands of Bruce Allen. And I consider that a very big deal.
Good points and well said. But assume Cooley hadn't said that. It would have been the pink elephant in the room that everyone skirted around. Btw, not only drunk people see pink elephants. Cooley probably shouldn't have said it, but him saying it isn't why people are thinking it.I never said that any of these stories were true or not - anything is possible. I am just maintaining that we need to hear the actual story before jumping to conclusions. You are rt about this being disconcerting, but we need details before placing blame. Let's say it is alcohol related - well then the team is probably correct in not going into details. No company should publicly discuss this type of situation - the individual (e.g. SM) should be the one to make this disclosure. It is in very bad taste to be discussing this w/ the public without it being first disclosed by the one w/ the problem unless they do something that actually resulted in a crime or damage to someone (I think that Cooley was a POS for doing this regardless of who prompted him).
Again - it doesn't hurt any of us to just wait this out just a bit. People are so impatient at this time.

So now we're both arguing about which one of us is arguing... no issues there.LOL, you were arguing with me, not the other way around. Otherwise why would you quote my post.![]()
Redskins vice president of communications Tony Wyllie said simply, “We’re busy with free agency,” when asked about McCloughan’s whereabouts, declining to elaborate.

I wasn't so much trying to place blame. I was trying to get across that this is not a small incident of our GM simply staying home to deal with the death of his grandmother. No this is much more IMO, this is the end of the In Scott We Trust era, an era that brought great hope to us all. So yeah I'm not ready to just sit back and wait for confirmation. I can draw some pretty obvious conclusions from all the smoke that is circulating around this story and those conclusions are not good.
Now I'm hearing that he is not at Redskins Park today. Just more evidence that this is OVER.
