ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Seahawks could be docked a second-round pick for failing to disclose Richard Sherman's MCL injury.

Yikes. Coach Pete Carroll has to be regretting trying to explain away Sherman's (slightly) down 2016 right about now. What the Seahawks did is blatantly against the rules, but a second-rounder would be an extraordinarily severe punishment. The Seahawks are no strangers to pushing boundaries, but there's not a team in the league that doesn't play injury report games.:suds:

Wow, and I thought Harbs had some no smarts moments. What an idiotic thing for an NFL coach to do. That's when you're talking just to be talking moments right there. :noidea:

Always drives me CRAZY when people accuse teams of hiding injuries, because if they really were, this is what would happen if this is true. What I will say is teams have a habit of using misdirection which is little better, but near impossible to prove- very politician like.

Sorry you're wrong.

"The Associated Press was not tied to the Bowl Championship Series, and the trophy could be awarded to a team which did not win the BCS National Championship Game. This has happened once after the 2003 season when LSU won the BCS title game, but USC received a higher total of votes in the AP Poll, and therefore received the AP National Championship Trophy. Teams serving NCAA postseason bans are still eligible for the AP National Championship.

USC will still display the 2003 and 2004 AP national championship trophies at Heritage Hall. They are still back-to-back national champions"
Sorry Oldtimer, but I'm not wrong at all.

I agree that the AP title was not tied, and said they won the AP title earlier as well. What you are missing is that Pete Carrol, as part of the AFCA, was contractually bound to vote for LSU, and he did.

Also the PAC10 agreed that their Conference would only recognize one Champion, the winner of the BCS Championship Title game.

So when your Head coach votes for LSU, and the Conference USC is a part of, only recognizes LSU as the one and only Official National Champion in the 2003 Season, then the Trojans only hold the unofficial AP title.

And whether SC displays an unofficial title, and a vacated title doesn't change the facts that Officially, they don't hold either title. As a matter of fact, they vacated the Texas BCS Title game loss as well.

It's just like Pete, and USC for that much, to try & change what they agreed to once they found an angle to try and claim something that they Officially did not earn.

It was this specific reneging on the BCS contract that they signed and agreed to that began the fall of the BCS format in the first place.

The 2004 (2003 season) National title was a split title between USC and LSU. USC won the AP National Title and LSU won the Coaches title. Both teams have a trophy. As far as an USC fans I will always consider USC as the 2004 National Champions, but that is just my opinion.

That's how I look at it too. They can strip what they want but it won't take away what the team accomplished or how the fans felt at the time.

Some could, but I couldn't or wouldn't.

No official National Titles during his tenure at SC.

2003 National Title officially belongs to LSU, but Pete & SC want to claim a split title even though they signed off (As all coaches and AD's did) on conceding the NT in the event the AP didn't agree.

2004 National Title officially belongs to nobody as Pete's Trojans had to vacate the win for rules violations.

I'm glad for the few Seahawk players and fans I like, that they got their SB win, but IMO the same can't be said for those players and fans at SC.

Ol' Pete fucked SC no doubt.

Yeah, it kinda does. From an official standpoint it most certainly does.

DSo Vegas can set betting lines. That is what the inury report is truly about.
Besides that, if your opponent is making reports and you are not, you taking advantage of an angle by not playing by the same set of rules, and in doing so, have a distinct competitive advantage.

If other teams knew about this, as they are suppose to, then I would expect Sherman would have had to defend more passes as teams would look to take advantage of his limited ability. And with that, he could further injury himself having a greater load to defend then he did.

It's a form of cheating, leave it to Pete to exploit any angle he can to cheat his way to the top.

If Paul Allen, JS and PC were as smart as people claim they are, they would sell the Seahawks to Rooney in order to avoid the penalty

Not reading the whole thread, but I believe the Seahawks are already docked their 4th round pick, if the league does in fact take the 2nd it will be be changing the 4th round docked pick to the 2nd. If this has already been mentioned my apologies.

Pretty sure it was a 5th round pick. But yes they would get that one back and lose the 2nd.

I've been trying to file a class action lawsuit against the NCAA for USC's 2004 season but can't get any help. USC won that title and since the NCAA says it never happened I want my money back for their game in Pullman and my cable bill paid for for the 4 months and would also like the NCAA to give back all the monies they received from endorsements and advertisers for BCS title game.

The Seahawks should've known that they hired a cheater that abandoned a sinking ship in USC. Once a cheater always a cheater. They have been caught cheating every year now for the past three years by having extra practices that weren't allowed. They have been fined minor sums which is peanuts for them so they keep doing it. Now they're covering up injuries. They should make it so they can't make the postseason for the next couple years and place them on a probation where they will be watched and observed for the next five years. Whatever it takes to stop the cheating. These pathetic fines won't do shit for these millionaires and billionaires.

Seahawks have become the new cheatriots and I never thought I would ever say that.

Wow, so now it's extra practices they weren't allowed? :L

If you are going to troll, at least get it in the ball park. They were docked for too much contact in approved OTA's, and one of them was utter BS because two guys not in pads collided on the field when neither saw the other and it was considered too much contact. They literally didn't have to change a thing except tell everyone to look out for each other better.
