I dunno, seems to me like most of the time pitching prospects get a lot more time to develop than what Walker had here before we decide "he just couldn't with this organization". I hope this one doesn't blow up in our face.

Being rushed might have hurt him, I'm not sure. All the negatives I ever heard about him was all mental not physical. This deal truly won't bug me that bad if it does blow up as opposed to the mishandling the organization did with Choo and Jones with the Ichiro crap.

I guess maybe I'm just in the distinct minority, but I don't look at his 2016 season as the failure most do. It was his 2nd full year; he was inconsistent for sure, but isn't that pretty normal for young pitchers? In the vast majority of his starts, he gave up 3 ER or less. 4.2 era on the season & 1.23 whip, which is not great but it's certainly not horrible in the AL. He had a couple rough streaks in the season but had some really good ones too, and he finished it pretty strong. I guess we'll see where he goes from here, but I just think we'll end up regretting giving up on him so soon.

I still believe Walker turns into a pretty solid pitcher maybe even an all star. I think he was definitely rushed through the minors. Even if Walker ends up being a great pitcher down the road I still think this was the right move as long as Segura pans out. I completely understand that it feels like we are giving up on Walker too early my argument to that is this team doesn't really have the time to wait and see with these young players. When you have to go in to a pitchers mechanics and change things as much as they do with Walker you are going to get the inconsistent results. It would have been nice to keep Walker and see if he turns into the pitcher we all had hoped but you gotta give up something to get something and now we should have a legit SS (hopefully) for the next 3 seasons.

Yeah, I'm excited to see Segura because I don't know much about him other than 2016 stats. It sounds like he can do it all but maybe only average with the glove.

Yeah im excited to see Segura too. Before last season you really didn't hear too much about him. After his first full year I think people were pretty excited about him. Then he fell off the map with back to back mediocre years. I think he was a fairly highly rated prospect too before making the majors.
