you ditch a player when paying him what he wants will hurt us in the future or his production does not equal the money you dont pay him just to have him thats a cerrato we already cerratoing kirk now we must cerrato djax??????? ....DJAX IS A FREE AGENT REPEAT DJAX IS A FREE AGENT THE HIGHEST BIDDER WILL GET DJAX AND IS THAT A CERRATO MOVE ...

Actually we arent Cerrato'ing Kirk. You pay a player for what he DOES bring to your team.

Fact.. .we have no one on the roster who brings what Kirk or Jackson brings to this roster.
Fact.. we know the offense works, and works WELL with both of them in there.
Fact... We have the cap space NOW and going forward to resign Cousins, Jackson, Garcon, Baker, Davis and a few others, and would STILL have the money and draft picks to improve the defense.

Fact, without making a single roster move we will have around $61 million in cap space. Once we unload some people that arent producing, that number goes up to around $71 million.

Now you can speculate all you want about we could easily find a replacement for him on the cheap, but the reality is.. in the games where he didnt play at all, the offensive production as a whole suffers. Reed and Crowder see more double teams, and for the most part we have scored less points.

Odds are you are right some one will likely outbid us for his services. BUt the fact that some one MIGHT try and outbid us should not put us in the mind set of, well we shouldnt even try and resign him and he is easily replaced. Because if he were that easily replaced, we wouldnt even be debating it in the first place.

BUY the way, for all those that the Eagles are a slam dunk no brainer and Jackson will go back there.

Philly is one of only 4 teams currently projected to be OVER the cap when the 2017 league year starts. After carry over from this year they should be $7 million below the cap.

On the flip side after carry over, the Redskins should be $61 million below the Cap. And the only teams that look to have more cap space than us right now are

Titans, Browns, Patriots and the Bucs.

BUcs dont need him
Patriots aint going to pay him
No one willingly goes to the Browns if they have another option
And the Titans would be a wild card landing spot, But IM not sure how that would work out.

Hall... either needs cut or a serious salary reduction. Cutting him saves us $4.25m in cap space
Lavauo.. needs cut, Saves us $4M
Litch saves us $3.5M

So that right there is an extra $11.75M in cap space... and unlike not resigning Jackson.... the only one of these three I think would be hard to replace would be Lavauo. But I think we can all agree... we need a better LG any way.

Rigt now we have $47.4M in projected cap space. We still have $15M in cap space from this year. Now I lowballed it and said we would only carry over $12m because I expect some bonuses to hit against this year.

$47+12= $59M and much like last year, Im expecting the cap to come in around $2m above what they are projecting right now.

So if it comes in at the $170 that i expect.

$118.64 Million is our committed cap out right now. Im going to round UP for simplicity sake

170 - 119 = 51M

51+12 rollover = $63M

$63M+ $11.75M from cuts = $74.75M in cap space....

So my high number is $75M after cuts, My Low number $70M after cuts. With 42 players signed.

Bottom line.... Cap space should be the least of our concerns at the moment.

Dang shark, can you give that answer a little quicker. I already had my shoe off trying to calculate the savings for those three players you mentioned as possible cuts.

Make fair offers...it is simple.

Offer KC 20 mil a season. Pay him up to 24. 50 mil guaranteed

Offer DJ 7 million a season...pay him up to 10 mil...guarantee 20 mil.

IF I had to hazard a guess

Kirks first year cap number on a long term deal would be $19 million ( slight bump over what Luck got)
Jacksons cap hit year one I would say could be worked into the $6 million range and still give him the $10 a year average he is likely to want.

Same for Garcon

So real cap numbers, I figure Kirk $19m, Jackson and Garcon $7M each (high balling) Baker $8M, and Davis $3M

So if done correctly, those five players would account for $44 Million Of the $70M in cap space. Leaving $26M to address the defense, LG and the Draft. Draft will eat about $4-6 million max. So $20 million to spend.

Bear in mind, Josh Normans $75 million contract only cost us $8 million against the cap this year. So IM probably a bit high on all these numbers save for Cousins.

Bottom line, I think we can resign all these guys, and still have about $30 million to go towards the draft and free agency.

And Sportster... some people collect stamps, or do needle point. The Redskins salary cap is one of my hobbies. So I kinda keep up with it. :thumb:

Brady plays for like 9 mil a season.

$14M a year on Brady, but Brady also has some killer endorsement deals tied to his contract from what i hear. His last deal was a 2 year $41 million extension adding 2018 and 2019 onto his contract. With a $28 million signing bonus.

Besides which.. Brady has already been paid.. very well.

Still...huge discount. It used to be 9. Like you said, he doesn't need the money, he wants the legacy.

Brandon Graham on DJax...

Gotta be tampering charges if DJax does return to the Eagles IMO.

Even if everything Graham claims Djax said is true? I think Djax's silence since this began is pretty telling and I can't see Graham saying what he's saying w/o getting some type of OK,

Guys.. .the numbers dont add up for Jackson going back to Philly.

They are going to need to do some cuts/reworks just to get right with the cap. Now I dont know if they can get enough team lopsided reworks of contracts to pick up Jackson. Sure I could work numbers to give him $10m a year average and only have him count $6M against the 2017 cap, but that puts them back in a situation to be over the cap in 2018.

Now its not impossible. But strictly from a cap standpoint, and based on what people are expecting he will ask for...

Jackson either resigns in DC, or he goes some place not named Philly. That or they are going to be doing some serious cap gymnastics in the city of brotherly battery throwing.
