Just another observation...The people Elway continues to pay keep showing up big time for this team

This off season we pay Von Miller whose sack on 3rd down should have sealed the victory. Had been shut down most of the game but still found a way in the biggest moment to make an impact.

Sanders--Made some clutch catches that were not easy. That one by the goal line was impressive and honestly not sure how he didn't get hurt getting bent like that.

Marshall played a pretty good game

Okung really shut down Ealy in this one. Compare that to last year where honestly one could argue that Ealy had a better game than even Von Miller just happened to be on the team that lost.

Stephenson again another that did very well. The 2 sacks happened on delayed blitzes up the middle. Not really on the OL for those. Siemian needs to see that a little quicker and get rid of the ball.

Anderson--Almost lost him to Miami and Elway matched the offer at the last minute and man was that huge. This kid if he can stay healthy will have a special season.

Money well spent this off season.

Just went on Arrowheadpride and man are those people angry about this game. Pretty much the Broncos look terrible and easily beatable and are the dirtiest team in the league that the NFL continues to just allow do whatever they want. Honestly I think they get more excited when the Broncos lose than when the Chiefs win. Probably hard to have seen the Broncos for the last 30 or so years be the most relevant team in the league while the Chiefs struggle to even win a playoff game.

I probably shouldn't pick on the Chiefs fans. We do have some good ones on this board here so my criticism is not towards any of them. Just see so many of our Rival fans just wishing our team would fail. Not saying I don't hope our divisional opponents fail but I mean saw some comments like "Chiefs please break Von Miller's leg when you play them" or "finish off what the gun couldn't" towards Talib. I want the Chiefs to lose but never at the cost of a player.

I did the same thing after the game. They have a lengthy game thread and it was awesome to read. When it was still 17-7 everyone was loving life and when the Broncos took the lead the tone over there changed. And I agree: there is a strange fixation on the Broncos at Arrowheadpride as well as Arrowheadaddict. We have some great Chiefs fans on this site, plus I work with a couple who are class acts. So not all of them are of the AP and AA ilk. But the regulars on those sites are pretty low class. And it was a lot of fun reading through their game thread at all the Broncos hate and seeing the frustration mount as the Broncos won.

I know Chris and Carl have mentioned it, but I think the game Janovich had was a real key. He had multiple good blocks in addition to his TD run. I just wanted to highlight him as he deserves the props.

What more can be said about the Denver Broncos and there toughness to pull out games? Love how the o line with the additions of Okung and Stephenson played against a vert good front seven. Also Schofield at guard where he belongs. C.J. Anderson was a stud but the Broncos eventually will need a second option at RB to step up. I thought Siemian played very well but would love to see the Broncos throw the ball a little more down field to stretch the defense but for a guy in his first start just one really bad turnover where he just needs to take the sack I thought was a good performance. Good to have a QB with some mobility to get first downs and keep the chains moving. I think we got ourselves a fullback in Janovich. Some great blocks and nice TD run. The defense had a slow start but good to see the pressure dialed up in the second half. There d line did get pushed around in the first half versus the run and the loss of Jackson and Walker will be hard to replace. Not as much depth there as I would like to see. Nothing better then seeing a defense laying the wood on the other teams QB. A few stupid penalties which need to be avoided but overall great win. Go Broncos!!!

What the hell is with all the Panthers yanking on our player legs after the play?!? Is that not a personal foul ?

Von Miller got away with a wicked helmet to helmet that should have been called for 15. Instead the Broncos got the ball. I think the Broncos got away with a couple things that were not called. Miller's hit on Cam actually turned the game around. Cam was woozy and should not have been allowed back in the game. He was no where near in the second half what he was in the first.

If not for a shitty snap from center with 9 seconds left and you guys would be singing a different tune this morning.

Overall, the Broncos played much better in the second half than they did in the first. Especially the defense. They gave up 17 in the first and held the Panthers to 3 in the second.

I'm not as goo-goo-gaa-gaa as some of you with Siemien. He was pedestrian at best and he gave up a couple of bad INT. I agree he was calm and did a decent job of running the offense, but he wasn't spectacular and, let's be honest, Mark Sanchez could have played equally as well.

I certainly wasn't impressed with Carolina. With their defense, they should have had Siemien running for his life a good part of the night, but they were trying to out think the Broncos by trying to mask coverage and it cost them dearly with CJ's TD catch.

Good start for the Broncos.............See you December 18th.

Even as a Broncos fan I can recognize we got away with a couple hits to the helmet we maybe shouldn't have. It's all part of the ebb and flow of the game. Once again, Von Miller got held on a lot of plays too, some of them key 3rd downs that turned into conversions. So it's not like the Broncos were the only beneficiary of a lack of fowls called.

If not for a shitty snap from center with 9 seconds left and you guys would be singing a different tune this morning.

Once you start taking one play out of the game you open up the speculation to remove other plays. For example, if not for three untimely turnovers inside the 30 the Panthers aren't even a threat to win the game on a FG at the end. Of course, the whole dynamic of the game changes if the Broncos score on any of those drives instead of turn it over, and it is impossible to speculate how the ensuing game would have played out. What we do know is teams win and lose together as a team. Both teams made some plays and both teams made mistakes. A high snap on a 50 yarder for the game winner is only highlighted because it was a potential game winner. High snaps happen all the time and kickers miss from 50 often, even in Denver.

Overall, the Broncos played much better in the second half than they did in the first. Especially the defense. They gave up 17 in the first and held the Panthers to 3 in the second.

I agree here. I'm not sure what the defense was doing in the first half. Lulling them to sleep maybe? They looked disinterested and inept through the first half. The second half was stifling. It's good to see they still have it. There may not be the level of dominance like last year, but with a better offense maybe that's okay.

And that brings me to...

Siemian was 18/26 for 178 yards, 1 TD and 2 picks. This is a 250th pick in last year's draft going against a team that was in the Super Bowl last year and boasts one of the best front 7s in football.

By comparison, Brady was 13/23 for 168 yards, 0 TD and ) picks. Is it unreasonable to believe Siemian will improve with playing time? Is it unreasonable to believe he'll be better against lesser defenses? Yes, Mark Sanchez could have produced a similar line. But Sanchez is a 7 year veteran and at this point he is what he is. Take Siemian's performance in context. If you've forgotten I'll repeat: 7th round pick in his second year in the league making his first start of his career and against a team that was in the Super Bowl last year and has one of the best front 7s in the NFL. And he was as calm as they get. Not perfect, but you expect mistakes.

I certainly wasn't impressed with Carolina. With their defense, they should have had Siemien running for his life a good part of the night, but they were trying to out think the Broncos by trying to mask coverage and it cost them dearly with CJ's TD catch.

I think they're still a good team, likely an 11-5 team by season's end. I was worried about our O-line but they looked solid against that Carolina defense. I think the Broncos line just really stepped up. It's not like the Panthers defense didn't have a good night. They did get pressure, Siemian just slipped away a couple times, took a couple sacks, and under pressure threw two picks and had a pass batted down at the goal line that could have been a third pick. Booker's fumble didn't help either. The Panthers defense is a good unit, but I suspect they are just the first of many this year that is going to get bullied and pushed around by this physical and hard-nosed Broncos offense.

Good start for the Broncos.............See you December 18th.

Indeed. Despite Brady missing 4 games, I still think the Patriots win their division.

The hit on Cam that caused him to be woozy was by Stewart - and was called. It was offset due to the intentional grounding. I'm sure Stewart will be fined for that.

Also for those against what Marshall did I would recommend you listen to his explanation of why he did it. He means no dissrespect to the country, our flag, the military, even the police. He did it because he is against social injustice. Don't think any of us in here are for social injustice. Maybe taking a knee during the National Anthem is not the best way to get that across but I do know that these players have talked to military folk to see what they can do to get their message across yet still show respect and the military people they talked to said to just take a knee instead of sitting on the bench. He is also donating money to Vets so again I wouldn't completely destroy him for making that decision.

thanks for the information CD

4th and 21 and the refs gift CAR a first down to continue a drive as does Darrian Stewart later

3 trips inside the 30 with McManus having zero chances, no points and yet up by 1 with a rookie QB against a 17-2 team last year.

Denver just has a mental toughness, overcome turnovers, bad penalties. This is how Denver wins.

Sounds like a pats fan getting his excuses ready for the season. Why come on to the broncos board to make excuses for a team that is not your own? Insecurity?

Here is a picture of the hands to the face penalty. If you look you can see Benjamin with his hands in Harris' face. Call could have gone either way or could have easily been a no-call. Got a bit unlucky there but kind of balanced out with the missed kick.

Hmmm. Sounds like you think this was a pure win by luck instead of the Broncos fighting till the very end to find a way to win.

Honestly you are right we would be singing a different tune but I don't think we would be singing "oh the world is going to end the Broncos are terrible." We knew this would be one of our tougher games with the Panthers pumped up for this one wanting revenge and starting a QB that had never attempted a pass in an actual NFL game. Throw in then what we see is the team turn the ball over 3 times all in Panther territory, have a penalty on 4th and 29, had times where our defense was having mass confusion of who should be on the field, and so much more. The good teams though learn how to overcome all that and still find ways to win games.

As for Siemian no he wasn't perfect. If you are thinking we thought he would be a 75% completion 4 touchdown and 0 interception type QB you are sorely mistaken. For a first game I thought he handled the situation well. Yes not happy about the interceptions and that will be something for the next 10 days he needs to go back and watch but what you love is a QB that after some terrible mistakes and his team down by 10 to one of the best teams in the league he fought back, kept the team calm, and made a few plays with both his arm and legs to keep this offense rolling. The offense looked lightyears ahead of the group we had last year. The OL looked great especially run blocking and gives us Bronco fans hope that maybe just maybe the Broncos can have a competent offense this year. With the defense we have that is all we could hope for right now.

You can say Carolina did more to lose this game than we did to win it and that is fine. I would say the Broncos did plenty to lose this game yet found a way to win it in the end. All that matters though after week 1 is are you 1-0 or 0-1. Right now we are sitting pretty. It is just one game though so have to keep things in perspective.

Great start Siemian played way better in first game then I thought. He's not flashy but, is poised and calm which is awesome. The mistakes are overblown (Yes I'd prefer none) but, it takes exp to limit them. He'll be up and down while learns that part of the process. I think a huge start in a young QB's learning curve is not have such happy feet and wilt when he see's pressure I thought Siemian was good at that part.

OL really impressed me they did very well against a great front. I thought they would get mauled last night. They showed toughness that was the best part.

Love having FB in O great addition.

D played better as game went on which is always good.

Great start
