That was one lousy game. Where were their bats, watching the Olympics?

14 hits and 2 runs, they stunk it up a bit too, but our putrid offense was worse

Thank goodness we picked up Lucroy and Beltran. Can you imagine this offense without those guys? Getting shut down by a no-name pitcher happens in baseball. Unfortunately this happens to Texas way too often.

And why can't Banister see that Desmond needs to sit a game or two? Or at the very least move down in the order. April Desmond is back. We need May and June Desmond.

Kudos to Hamels for keeping Texas in this game on a night when he didn't have his good stuff.

Fulmer is a damn good pitcher. Day game so Lucroy likely sits. Really needed this one tonight.

Fraley is an asshat.
The two are not mutually exclusive. Fraley is an asshat, you are correct about that. But it doesn't make what he said about Kinsler untrue. And Kinsler just proved it by throwing a hissy fit and refusing to speak to all media until Fraley left the room. Get over yourself. So an asshat reporter wrote something unflattering about you. Boo hoo. You think a class act like Beltre would have done what Kinsler did in his shoes? Nope.

The Rangers tend to have problems with pitchers who are soft tossers or ones who don't always know where the pitches are going themselves, and we got a combination of those two tonight in Boyd. Half the time he wasn't even throwing it where Saltalamacchia was calling for it. He was up, down, wide, in the dirt, in tight, and then right down the middle. It varied from pitch to pitch and you could tell the hitters couldn't find any kind of rhythm or groove up there against him. Also, when we face those guys who throw a lot of 75-80 MPH junk, our guys tend to get impatient and lunge at pitches, many of them bad, instead of staying back and loading up on their back feet. That's why you see so many topped weak grounders and harmless pop outs. A good example of someone like Boyd, albeit with a bit more control, who pitches the same slop and gives us fits is Jered Weaver. We can hit Justin Verlander and David Price all day long, but the Matt Boyds of the league more often than not give us fits.

Yep. Moving on. Onward and upward.

Exactly. Tonight was one of the duds every team encounters along the way during a 162-game season. Scrap it and load up your ammo tomorrow for Fulmer.

Problem is we are back to our 3-4-5 starters now and we know how well they've been pitching, offense will need 6-10 per night

I wouldn't say that's necessarily true of Perez and Griffin. Perez actually pitched a great game his last time out, so he is certainly capable of doing it again. And AJ might be able to give us 5-6 innings of 1-2 run ball. Harrell is the only one who I absolutely dread taking the mound. We will definitely need a ton of runs to win his starts until Holland or Colby returns.

After Harrell we should be able to skip his next start as we have 2 off days coming up. Hopefully Banister does that.

Before the Colorado and Detroit series we were feeling good to go 4-3 with the way the offense was hitting. But if we lose we finish 4-3 and one of you stated 5-2 which I thought was crazy but it could happen if we win. So putting all things in perspective we have done better than most of us thought. In fact if the BP had not completely imploded as it seems to do at times in the last Colorado game we could have been shooting for 6-1.
