With Maybin hurt....I imagine Detroit will recall Buck Farmer to play CF, for the next week or so. You can always count on Buck.


I don't know about anyone else...but I am on the edge of my seat, waiting in maximum anticipation, for the name of the player to be recalled from Toledo to take Maybin's spot. Sitting on the edge of your seat also makes it easier to barf if the name called is "Steven Moya". (Come to think about it...Buck Farmer in CF wouldn't be all that bad!)

With Shane Greene hurting....Detroit added another relief pitcher to replace Maybin. Warwick Saupold was recalled. The team will go with 12 position players and rotate Collins and Romine in CF.

SEATTLE -- Detroit Tigers reliever Shane Greene, who didn't pitch in Tuesday night's 15-inning marathon, will probably be unavailable again Wednesday.

But manager Brad Ausmus said that he fully expects Greene to be ready Friday when the Tigers open a weekend series at Texas.

The bullpen will also be bolstered Friday by the return of Bruce Rondon, who has been on the paternity list after the birth of his child.

With only 3 guys on the bench....you don't have much choice if you want to give brittle Iglesias a rest. And Romine needs to be saved to pinch hit for Collins if Seattle brings in a left hander.

Tiger injuries and lack of quality depth in the minors is starting to hurt.

Guessing it'll be Romine or Aviles at short Friday. Iggy hurt himself running out a ground ball last night, surprise surprise.



The hot streak was fun, but were back to not having a bullpen.

I'm more worried about F-Rod. He has not been sharp in his last four outings, even though JD's arm got him a save in one of them. Without a reliable closer, no team has much of a chance to be competitive in September. Maybe it was just a bad stretch?????


I see that the Tigers are now hoping that Zimmermann can make a start the last weekend of August. So I guess fans can hope for 6 starts from him down the stretch. When/if he returns, I would not give him a lot of time to "right himself" if the Tigers are still in the playoff hunt. If he stinks again - maybe just shut him down for the year and hope he gets straightened out for next season. (I wonder why the coaching staff in Detroit and in Toledo did not see that he did not have his stuff before his last start? He was not sharp in Toledo.)

The Tigers had hoped the off day would allow him enough rest to recover, but the pregame tests did not go well. The Tigers have placed Iglesias on the 15-day disabled list.

Now....I understand that Detroit might go with only 11 position players tonight. Only Salty and Avila on the bench. The Tigers will send a relief pitcher down too Toledo and bring up (and I quote) "a viable middle infielder".

Hopefully Detroit - Texas series opener is rained out. Give the Tigers time to find the "Viable" guy.
