Hello guys. Our Pirates are finally playing well now. Man I was about to pull out the brown bag b/c they was playing so Bad!!!!!!! Now this is our Pirates, playing some consistent BB. No more getting sweep and losing some series. I can deal with my Pirates when they are playing bad b/c of injuries or plain bad luck but the complete collapse they had in June was very concerning to be b/c of the length of time.

The young players and our relief pitchers have really contribute to this turn around. I think Brault played well last night. When we add Glasnow to the mix our pitching staff really have a bright future. This will allow Juan Nicasio and Locke to the bullpin. Glasnow, Brault, Tailon, Kuhl and Cole, what about Niese. I am still waiting on my hometown boy Josh Bell, although he may be added later on now. Also big thumbs up to Caminero.

A long time Pirate fan from Big D.

Can't wait to see what Glasnow and Bell can do in the majors. Hopefully Taillon makes it back swiftly as well. He's gone through more than enough arm troubles as it is.

Don't you worry one lick about Taillon. They're being careful with his innings, and this is just a way to get him a little rest so he's got some bullets left down the stretch.

It's amazing to me neither Marte nor Polanco made the team outright. Polanco is tied with Bryce Harper for third in the NL in WAR by an outfielder. He's been excellent. Marte isn't far behind him in sixth, and is hampered by--for some unknown reason--having a negative defensive rating this year.

The Pirates aren't a large-market team nor is part of the Moneybags League.

Big day today. Glasnow takes the hill. Hopefully he strikes out 16 in 7 shutout innings and then the Pirates sweep the Cubs over the weekend and are the talk of the all-star break.

He's all over the place, but he's also clearly tough to center.

If he develops any semblance of command, Glasnow is going to be one heck of a pitcher.

The hanging curveball has bitten him twice. A triple off the top of the wall and a deep home run. When he's gotten it down, it's generated whiffs, and his fastball has been good enough--if sporadic--to make that pitch play, but he's hung a lot of them. Not commanding it well or consistently.

Still, the stuff has been good enough despite the flaws to hold the Cards to 2 runs over 5 innings.

Yes! Bell is on his way to the majors. Hope he is here to stay.

Awesome win tonight. 6 ER off Arrieta. That was a long time coming. And that Bell single and him getting so pumped was awesome. Things are suddenly looking up.

Infographic Pirates Need Another Liriano Comeback - TKB

Interesting graphs on Liriano. The one that I find the most interesting is the opponent OPS the third time through the lineup, wonder if his days as a starter are numbered?

Interesting, I wonder how the conversation with Hurdle and Huntington went. Before Glasnow was sent down, they talked about if he could be part of the rotation after the all star game, I think. Liriano and Niese days could be numbered.
