Completely off topic, but just as an FYI...If anyone fancies themselves a patriot, or "real 'merican", whatever term you'd like to use. ..please go visit Pearl Harbor. .utterly amazing surreal feeling

A couple thoughts:

1) our draft was not scheduled to start until noon last Friday. A few guys picked before that time, but the first round would have gone much faster if everyone knew the draft was going on. I think the draft time was really closer to 7 days and 12 hours based on scheduled start. Awesome job all! I have never done a slow draft that went his quickly or smoothly.

2) it is interesting looking at final results. Nobody took 2 kickers, 1 took 2 DSTs, 2 took 2 TEs and all but 1 took 2 QBs. The vast majority of teams have 2 RBs and WRs on their benches, so it seems we all agree that this is optimal roster construction for this league.

Well, here's my take on my draft. I don't give grades since so much of this league is based upon attrition. I believe this team is solid, not flashy. Biggest strengths are QB, K and TE. As always RB will be competitive barring injuries. WR group will be just fine if Jordy comes back at full strength. Stayed very true to my board. Biggest 'reach' was Marvin Jones - best bargains Johnson, Barnidge, Snead.
QB -
Aaron Rodgers (Rd 4 pick 41) - I probably would not have gone QB in a standard league but this league hinges a lot on attrition. The potential of 4000yds and 40tds was simply too much to pass up. Three QB's went in the round and it was a long way back to me. Assumed he would not be there the following rd so pretty much had to spring. As my team has developed I'm glad I went ahead and grabbed him.

Kirk Cousins (rd 11 pick 128) - Needed a backup and he matched-up well with Rodgers tough games as well as bye-week. Put up excellent numbers last yr and has a full complement of receivers coming back plus a potential difference maker rookie.

RB -
David Johnson (Rd 1 pick 8) - Pretty surprised he was on the board with the RB hungry guys in this league. Going in, had pretty much resolved myself to take a WR here but the 'big three' went before me. Johnson was an absolute beast down the stretch last yr when given the chance. Has 3 down back potential and proved he could do so. In the Arizona high powered offense, I like his chances to excel.

Demarco Murray (Rd 5 pick 56) - After two straight rds taking WR's, I needed a RB. He was the best remaining on my board. Have to hope last yr was just a bad fit for his skill-set and he rebounds this yr. He does have quite a bit of mileage on his tires which does make him a risk in this league, so I'll have to address that in the latter rds. But the potential for 1000yds and 6-8TDs is there with the upgrades Tennessee made to their line.

Melvin Gordon (Rd 8 pick 89) - Surprised he lasted this long, although he had a horrible rookie yr. The Chargers addressed some of their offensive line issues and I think that will make a difference in his performance this yr. With only Woodhead as competition, he has opportunity and the resume to do well.

Derrick Henry (Rd 9 pick 104) - This was really an insurance pick for Murray, just in case he falters or runs out of steam. Titans have reported that they want a smash-mouth running game. His size fits the bills for that type game.

WR -
Jordy Nelson (Rd 2 pick 17) - Best on my board, even coming off the injury last yr. He has a very high ceiling, and perhaps the best passer in the game throwing to him - - what's not to like?

Amari Cooper (Rd 3 pick 32) - Considered number of targets (100+) which equates to opportunity. The #1 option for up-and-coming QB and proved he has the talent to be so. Actually was hoping to snag Keenan Allen here but missed out.

Jarvis Landry (Rd 6 pick 65) - Again targets (100+) were a serious consideration. He can play pretty much anywhere on the field which is also a big plus. Hopefully Tannehill's time with Peyton will improve his accuracy. Had my eye on Julian Edleman, who for some reason kept falling - but alias the fall ended 2 picks before me. ....

Marvin Jones (Rd 7 pick 80) - A very good receiver with new scenery. With the mega target Megatron retired and only Tate to share those targets he finally has opportunity to show his under-rated talent. Even if he post the number of Tate when Calvin was there, I'll take it.

Willie Snead (rd 14 pick 161) - This was probably my biggest 'steal' of the draft. Put up over 900yds and 5TDs last yr. To get that kind of production and potential or more in the 14th rd was surprising and filled a need for my bye-week 10 WR issue.

TE - Gary Barnidge (rd 12 pick 137) - It's hard to put a ton of faith based upon a one yr performance but CLE did little to upgrade with difference maker in the passing game. He's a very good receiver and was a red-zone target monster. In rd 12, if he puts up half the yardage and loses 1/3 of the TDs, I'm still thrilled.

DST - NE Patriots (Rd 10 pick 113) - Always a top 10 unit with Hoddie running the show. No reason to think it will be different this yr although they face several top notch offenses so there will be weeks when the point total will be low.

K - Steven Haushka (Rd 13 pick 152) - Consistently among the most accurate and gets lots of opportunities.

Feel like causing some havoc... well, not really. My Canadian roasts are, well, Canadian.

But still... worst picks by round.

Round 1 - Jamaal Charles (sorry Treff, or your welcome Treff...pending how you feel about my bust picks. I've been wrong before)
Round 2 - Sammy Watkins (not terrible before the injury news, but still boom or bust...and maybe a little homerism)
Round 3 - Devonta Freeman (sorry foot, no way he's a perennial double digit TD guy, Coleman is better between the tackles)
Round 4 - Andrew Luck (sorry Chef, but that seems like a name pick, not a production pick)
Round 5 - Jay Ajayi (sorry Bar, I don't see what you see)
Round 6 - T.J. Yeldon (potential, yes, but paying for something not there yet, with Ivory obstacles around him?)
Round 7 - Chris Ivory (with great picks but injury risks Bell and Lewis, not sure Ivory is the answer in his situation)
Round 8 - Melvin Gordon (micro-fracture surgery is very hit or miss, combined with the way of the Chargers...air ball and Woodhead)
Round 9 - Josh Gordon (#floored)
Round 10 - DeSean Jackson (boom or bust and a doubled up bye week...way too risky)
Round 11 - Zach Ertz (nice pick if it were my first TE... bad management by me here)
Round 12 - Jimmy Graham (opposite of me, with Jimmy being Monkey's only guy will be tough)
Round 13 - Bilal Powell (hard to call bad picks down here, as they are what they are... maybe it's my hate for the Jets)
Round 14 - Will Fuller (seven WR is a bit much...a second QB would have served Foot well here)

Looks like me and Foot are the two lucky winners with three each!

Kiss of death to Sam and Ram. Great drafting gents! ...although Zeke was a close second to Charles in the 1st... and Sanu was my second choice in the 13th
So, Treff and tlance came close to getting those kisses...but tlance's Coleman was a close second to Ivory in the 7th, so Fuzzy was just as close as T)
And Lefty came close too... Gordon was almost beat by LaFell in the 8th, and Steve Smith... but couldn't ding Foot for four!

Yep - there were a few better starting backs left at that time. Guess I was looking at bye-weeks or something - and truly forgot about the surgery.

Ok @TKOSpikes , I could have hit that list easily had I taken my "Super Sleeper". So here it is along with the story of how it almost came to be (look at me making excuses for ALMOST drafting somebody).
Anyway, like all of us I just can't get enough of FF so I'm always reading shit, looking around and just seeing what I can find out. We had a conversation or two here about Lamar Miller (who will be OK IMO but not top 5). Anyway, while reading I saw a headline saying how Miller is the best athlete I've seen and we will find ways to get him the ball without a doubt. Thinking O'Brien was talking about Lamar, I went ahead and read it.........
upload_2016-5-21_10-27-24.jpeg

He was talking about Braxton Miller! Dude is a great athlete and if I thought he was gonna get some PT I thought why the hell not......plus he was an OK QB.........but I can't find the original article and last I saw they were talking about punt returns.....

Will comment on my 2 busts:

I really don't think Coleman in the 7th is a bad value. Risky, sure, but Hue Jackson is a good offensive coach and he did not take Coleman at 15 if he was not going to find a way to use him.

With Powell, he is my 4th RB. I would normally be looking for upside in a standard league. In suicide, I simply wanted a guy who could get me 4-5 points if/when I need to use him. Given my weekly advantages elsewhere, I did not need a potential game breaker here.

My Turn
First off let me say that doing this slow draft with all of you is certainly one of if not the most interesting and insightful draft that anyone can ever be involved in
It is an absolute joy to share in it with you my friends

Ram - Lefty - Joe- Tlance you write ups are a tremendous read and i applaud each of you (and i know the forthcoming ones will be as well)

i can only breakdown my thoughts by round and honestly--
i do not have detailed stats and reasoning to justify my choices

i admit a lot of my playing is based on instinct feel timing luck and maybe a whole lot of prayer

On with it Barilko

Round 1-Julio Jones

7th spot and i'm thinking and no way Joe takes EE so only 5 guys to pass and no way he goes before Bell and Gurley so i'm good as i figure its all or nothing for me Dynasty and suicide im BarilkEE
Funny guy Sam grabs him at 2
i'm only interested in 1 of the top 4 taken before me and thus its Wr time
Joe grabs Antonio so # 2 Julio it is

Round 2-A.J.Green

After round 1 pushes me to Julio i fully intend on taking one of Lamar, Charles, Martin or Lacy (Johnson certainly gone who was my 5th RB)
Treff did you have to take 2 at the turn
so now i'm thinking might as well get a second almost stud WR instead
had Robinson been there he is my choice so Nelson,Jeffrey or A.J. i chose Green

Round 3-Kelvin Benjamin

If 1 of the next 4 Rbs that were chosen fall to me i take one here
they don't so for a split second i consider taking a Qb -- no not me i just cant do it
Thus Kelvin is an easy choice for me(very potential stud Wr)

Round 4-Latavius Murray

Well my thinking as described above led me here
I would have taken Hyde or Ingram here (nice grab Ram+Tlance)
here is the praying part as he faded down the stretch last year
however maybe Treff's Raiders get better and thus he is used more as they play less catch up

Round 5-Jay Ajayi

Potentially a solid in the 5th or just plain suicide only time will tell but with Murray my number 1 i need to grab and grab quick(MBBRLers will r*pe and pillage Rbs at any cost)

Round 6- Jeremy Langford

Hey you guys may end up being right (but he hasn't quite lost his job yet has he?)
also see round 5 MBBRLers

Round 7- Jordan Mathews

Decisions Decisions
Ben or Brees here
What! What! there gone
Crap hesitation what to do
oh well lots of QBs left in the next target range
same for TE unless Fleener busts out (could be a successful pick Ram)
might as well grab my 4th WR i'm sure ill need one
I believe he is still Philly's numero uno so ...

Round 8 - KC DST

I'm set on Dst here and 2 of the 3 picks immediately before me even furthered my thought process
but did the 2 that went have to be my choices
Oh well KC should be fine

Round 9 - Ladarius Green

Since my Qb pass in round 7 only Brady off of the board
Barilko you did it you did it by passing you grabbed a solid 4th WR and certainly a better DST than you would have got had you taken a Qb in 7
Thanks boys still lots of solid Qb choices left lets grab a TE
Ladarius if Pitt wants you i want you and ya maybe Ertz ( no you have Mathews) or Barnidge (not sure old is he a 1 hit wonder ) hell what to i know Cmon Green be the man

Round 10 - Rams DST

Now what is that silly Canuck doing 2 DST and in 3 rounds no less
Wake up Canada take an F,n QB have we taught you anything

ok kid Qb now do it do it
hmmmmm
12 more picks before i go again
lets see ,Eli,Romo or Rivers hey 3 left that i want and would be thrilled to have in round 10
ya look look of the next 12 picks only Monkey needs a Qb
Barilko ya got em you are in
but maybe some one takes a backup Qb
no no no way
ok maybe 1 does but not 2 of them
ya im in im in
now for the piece de resistance ill take a second DST and a pretty good one and really trump them MBBRLers

Round 11 - Matt Ryan

Matty Ice or Barilko's Melting Ice see round 10 ^^^^
i guess he could return to form and i do have Julio

child-praying.jpg

Round 12 - Tyrod Taylor

i like the pairing with Ryan maybe it works if i play the right one weekly (that praying part again)
though as described above you know i didn't want to end up here

Round 13 - Dwayne Allen

I like this pick but really wanted Jimmy G i really thought he would be ignored

Round 14 - Josh Brown

He is a Kicker Right ?

All in all were some gambles won and lost
of that i have no doubt only time will tell if the gambles won or loss

WR - I love my crew

RB - naught but i love my WR

TE - really only so many Gronks in the world but between Green and Allen i may be ok

Qb - anyone want to trade (oops wrong league) C mon Matty

Df - i guess it can make a Diff and i like mine

So I don't have time right now to anal-ize my draft, but I will make a comment on EE. Was either gonna be Bell (who I really thought I'd get) or EE. I know I know he's a rook, but a more than likely 3 down back (they didn't take him at 4 to be in a RBBC) behind that line? I figured, since this is the Suicide League might as well go big or go home.

@TKO..just in the spirit of discussion, not in the spirit of "how dare you say I had a bust pick!" But Charles at 12 gets the bust over a rook at 2? Aww come on man

Have to agree with Treff here.
EE hasn't taken an NFL snap. Zero. But drafted #2 overall?!? Last rookie taken that high was probably Reggie Bush and he wasn't in the top half of round 1.

And not that I want to debate the Yeldon pick (again) but taking a 2nd year starting RB 22nd can hardly be less risky in round 6 than say Ram taking White who also has zero NFL reps yet.
