OH HEY HELLO.

My little brother is moving to Dublin in June for work too. Are you in the internet spying business as well?

So my recommendation to you would be to avoid living in Dublin. The only good thing it has going for it is the fact that it's on the BART line (our railway system).

If I were working in Dublin I would probably choose to live in Alameda or Oakland which is about 20 miles away. I am single and don't have kids though. There are a lot of really nice parts of Oakland (like Piedmont, Claremont, Rockridge, and the Oakland Hills).

Alameda and Oakland are both solid choices. There are nice parts of Oakland (contrary to popular belief) and Alameda is a great little town.

That's why my sister in law left. She had a very good job too but got a similar job in Memphis and got the hell out. I was shocked when I was out there and saw what housing prices were. Fuck that !!

My parents still live in SF and they pay 2600/month for a 3 bedroom apartment that now costs 7,000 a month due to rent control

they want to move back to Oklahoma where they are originally from asap.

That's why I said in the I'm Bored thread that I almost puked today when I found out how much people pay for rent in Maine.

I know they pay us more out in San Francisco to compensate for the higher cost of living, but it's still pretty insane what we pay for rent.

Also, Awaz, don't get sucked into thinking that you should live in Fremont or Hayward or Castro Valley. Those places kind of suck.

Congrats awaz! That is great news!

I don't live near that area of california, I'm in Socal, but if you get the chance, take the Pacific Coast Highway south and follow it all the way down to Santa Barbara... if you haven't already. The views along that road are EPIC!!!

Yeah I know a few friends who have bought some cute houses in Richmond. It's a dicey town though. And it's much further from Dublin that something in Alameda (which is the cutest little town and I love it!).

I also say to look in Oakland. I have a sister that lives there and there are nice areas. And it is pretty easy access to the surrounding areas (if you have a car).

Northern California needs more Flyers fans! Oakland Ice is a great place to play hockey, if you are into it. The Sharks own the ice, so the league-play is pretty spot on.

There are lots of nice places in the East Bay - which others have already touched on. Quick train ride to San Jose, too.

I have an aunt and a couple cousins who live in San Leandro and they love it there. I really don't know much about it, but it's probably worth checking out.
