Why don't you go ahead and add Marty Schottenheimer to your list as well. He fits right in with your list of coaches who couldn't win a SB. And before you tell me Fischer has one it was a player on the 85 Bears squad where he spent the whole season on IR.

You're right. He has a ring. Nobody can take that away from him.

That said, I don't think he's anywhere near hall-of-fame status. A coach wins a SB every season; it's not exactly rare for a coach who coached for a long time to retire with a ring. Heck, Shannahan has 2, and I'm not sure he's even deserving.

Eh I think Dungy deserves it. He took the most irrelevant team in NFL history and turned them into something. Gruden sniped his SBOWL but he still won with Manning. Gotta give it up for Dungy... guy is a douche as an announcer, but that's not why we're here.

Like I said while the title is he is getting in under HC I do think they look at this as what has this person done for their entire career? Because Dungy is one of the few to have really been in about every part of football and found success at every level that factored in.

Just a little hyped for the game today! No needed to get some work done anyway so figured why lay in bed fighting it when I can come over and get some things done then not have to come in as early on Monday.

:( I remember back a few years before Jed tarded his way to Harbaugh "mutually parting ways." I couldn't sleep the night before the big game either. :( :( :( Seems like so long ago now. The last 3 years have been a haze of tattoos, missed open receivers, stupid tweets, **** stars coaching the team and so on.

Enjoy this my friend. You never know when it'll be another 10, 15, 18 years 'til it happens again. I'll be rooting for Peyton to go out a champ' like John did. :suds:

...P.S. I'm still murderously mad at Peyton for saying no to the Niners. He could've sleepwalked his way to at least 2 SB trophies on those teams. :mad2:

...hope to see a great game tonight,.......it's sux but it's kinda nice not having a ''dog in the fight'' for me ,....I can sit-back and watch and not have to run in another room the final 30-seconds [seattle's crazy catch/lynch-stopped/butler interception]....*sigh*.

It is true. I thought after winning back to back Super Bowls in the 90's that this would be pretty common place for the Broncos. Then Elway retired and Davis had a career ending injury and it all fell apart. Definitely making sure to enjoy this process. This week though has been the reverse for me compared to 2 years ago. I started out the week last time very sure the Broncos would win the game. I mean the greatest offense in NFL history no defense could stop them. As the game got closer though just seemed like things were not sounding quite right. This time started out the week watching a couple of Panthers games going "they look unstoppable." Watched a couple more games as the week went on and listening to many of the ex-players from those Super Bowl years talk about talking to the players on the team and saying there is just something special about this team has me a bit more confident now that the Broncos could come out and punch the Panthers in the mouth and see how they respond.

Haha I can definitely understand that. I was surprised though last year how invested I actually got in the game. I remember telling people all week how I was going to cheer for the Seahawks but as the game went on I found myself actually openly cheering for the Patriots (did I just type that?). I just kept having flash backs to the last Super Bowl and just wanting to punch Sherman in the face and was glad to see somebody actually shut him up for once.

......trust me = we're all still shocked up here about that win.......that's why the ~pain~ wasn't so bad two weeks ago/losing,.....hopefully your SB wasn't against us....*wink*.

Based upon my own standards, I don't think Father Dungy is a HOF coach. I acknowledge that he had some success, but it was Rich McKay who built those Buccaneers (he drafted guys like Lynch, Sapp and Brooks before Dungy ever showed up). I think a big reason as to why he went into the Hall because he was the first black HC to win the SB, and that he was a good preacher. He then walked into a situation with Indy where they had an established, HOF quarterback.

I think Don Coryell was a better coach, and deserves the enshrinement more than Dungy. Certainly his impact on offense have a much greater standing legacy than anything Dungy left behind.

But, that's the NFL HOF for you......consistently inconsistent.

I know the resume...I was going to say no until I looked at the list of coaches currently in the HOF...yes...he should be.

I thought I new what love was until I saw Tony Dungy talk about Peyton Manning. That's a love I've never experienced. Maybe one day I will.
