From Michigan. Hes deserving.
I voted yes without reading the question. The title of the thread is different from the poll question.
I don't think he should be in the HOF. He got the nice guy vote. As someone in a market that worships him as a former Gopher QB and Vikings DC, I've experienced first hand how over the top people's love for him is. Even going so far as to give Gruden ZERO credit for Tampa Bay's SB win. Gruden got that team where Tony couldn't because he was too busy being owned by the Eagles. He got more run out of Brad Johnson's noodle arm than any other coach ever could.
Tony belongs in the HOVG, but I don't think he had the longevity of a HOF coach, and if he weren't such a nice guy and an ambassador, there is no way he gets in with that win number.
He has 148 wins. How is that undeserving?
That has to be the lowest total of any coach to ever get in. At least in the Superbowl era.
Sure it's the lowest, if you don't count Bill Walsh, Hank Stram, and Vince Lombardi(the last 2 are early but you said SB era). And if you want to exclude those 2 because they're too early he still has 40 more wins than Walsh

I just edited my post. Walsh was an architect of a dynasty. If you poll a million people, how many of them are going to say Dungy deserves to be in the HOF more than Walsh?
Agree, do fans actually watch football or just pretend?True but Dungy built that team.
Are you serious? Who asked that question?I just edited my post. Walsh was an architect of a dynasty. If you poll a million people, how many of them are going to say Dungy deserves to be in the HOF more than Walsh?

Thanks for clarifying dumler7, you are always on top of things. Best of luck 2-morrowNobody asked the question. VikingFan2k2 had mistakingly said that no coach in the HOF had less wins than Dungy which just isn't true as Walsh is one of them that does have less wins. Nobody is questioning whether Walsh deserves to be in the HOF but more just showing that many of the things that other coaches have in the HOF are things that Dungy has. He has more wins than some of them. Heck there are coaches in the HOF that don't have a Super Bowl win so Dungy has them beat there. He also has shown that he helped multiple teams go out and win lots of games so can't just say Manning made him a HOF coach.
Also for me while yes he is getting in as a HC to me this is more an all-around award for the career he had as a player/coach/analyst. Beyond just football he also has been one of the men to help open the doors for coaches of other races to really get their foot in the door. So while he wouldn't be my first choice of HC that deserves to be in the HOF I do think he has done enough with his full career to deserve the award.

I'm rooting for the Panthers, because of the the way Broncos have owned Pats, but have a little piece in my heart for solid fans like you, and that little bit will tip my hat to you and other good Bronco fans if they win. Thanks man. Having trouble getting tired to go to sleep. Pretty sure I am just going to crash after the game is over tomorrow. Oh well getting plenty of work done in the office so maybe I don't have to come in quite as early Monday morning.

....lol,......if he can get in Brian Billick shouldn't have to wait too long either ...right...?Vote and Discuss
......i'm sure his ~holy-roller~ lifestyle persuaded a few voters....don't you...?!Dungy also has a career winning percentage of 65% with 148 wins. That's a better percentage than Bill Parcels, Joe Gibbs, Bill Walsh, Chuck Noll, & Marv Levy to name a few and they are all in the HOF. Not like this was some outrageous honor.
There are better coaches overall than Dungy I just named but Dungy has them beat in winning percentage and in some cases actually more total wins than a few of those guys and wins/winning percentage are a great factor at determining Hall Of Fame credentials in a head coach.
Jeff Fisher has 169. Andy Reid has 161. John Fox isn't too far behind Dungy with 125.
It's the hall of fame, not the hall of really good. I think Dick Vermeil had a more impressive career than Dungy did.
