Marcus Smart had a triple double for the Celtics as well....I really liked him coming out of the draft....the best thing about his game is his defense too- He reminds me of a rich-mans Patrick Beverly--- just as good on defense- but has the potential to be a better playmaker and scorer.

hey!!!! you guys won a game without your starting back court!!!!! Now you know how the Cavs felt for the first TWO MONTHS of the season!!!!!!

obviously a great game for Whiteside- Like i said the other day- there are only 5-7 centers i would rather have in the league if Whiteside isnt acting a fool!

but on to the elite team in the East- Cavs go 5-1 on their longest road trip of the year and take 2 of 3 in the Texas Triangle....man...it wouldve been cool to be the first team to sweep it since the Celtics in 2008- but it was not meant to be--- they got close though leading the Spurs in the 4th at one point. Great road trip......get home CAvs and try and get some rest for GSW on Monday!

Long trip doesn't really means difficult. They only had 2 tough games on the trip IMO and that was the Mavs and Spurs. I knew Houston would lay an egg because they always do when they face a good team. You guys played the Wiz without Beal and a few other guys then you had 2 bad teams in Philly and Minnesota. Truth be told (not to take anything away from Cleveland) I think most solid/good teams in the league would go at least 4-2 on the trip. It was a long trip but not real difficult

14. Varejao played only eight minutes, but they flipped the entire dynamic of the game. He had four points, two rebounds, two assists, a steal and an offensive charge in his first four minutes. The Cavs trailed 20-15 when he entered in the first quarter. They led 23-21 by the end of it and didn’t trail again the rest of the night. Varejao finished a plus-15 in his eight minutes – rather hard to do.
15. “I was really, really happy with what Andy did for us. He came in and in (eight) minutes really, really kind of turned the game around for us,” Blatt said. “They felt his energy and I think the guys are happy to see him out there because he’s a loved member of this team.”

I am really getting frusterated that Blatt wont play Andy. Im sure people outside of Cleveland probably dont know this- but Anderson Varejao is the longest tenured Cleveland athlete by a fair margin. I think 2nd is Joe Thomas of the Browns- Varejao has been here at least 3-4 years longer than Joe. He beloved in this city- and he can still play when given the chance- ESPECIALLY with guys that thread the needle on the pcik and roll like KI and Bron and Delly.

i would be scared shitless as a GM to give him a long term contract- he can barely behave on a short contract where he is making no money.

WTF ?
His list of not behaving since the suspension is what?

Nobody here cares.
Maybe discuss it with Cavs fans in Cavs forum.

No props coming from me unless there is a banner raising in October.

Rank him wherever you want.
My point is you have questioned me using the word dominant.

If your the most dominant shot blocker in the most dominant league in the world, then you are a dominant player.
He's also considered at least an elite rebounder IMO.

Yes, he has weakenesses, but give me your list of centers who don't.

I consider being a "dominant" player to be top 3 at his position- or at least top 5- and its hard for me to put a guy in that category with

Cousins is a dominant player
Drummond is a dominant player
Marc Gasol is a dominant player
Al Horford is a dominant player
DeAndre Jordan is a dominant player

these are guys that are the best players on their teams and carry them on a nightly basis (well may be besides DeAndre). What is Whiteside on the Heat? 3rd at best? Isn't all the crap that I have been hearing lately say that statsistically the Heat are actually a BETTER defense when Whiteside is sitting? Have the Heat fans on here not conceeded that Whiteside goes for block statistics at the expense of playing fundamental defense at times?

Its hard for me to call that "Dominant"- especially when he has done it for just about a calendar year- and the team missed the playoffs and is 6th in the East now.

Al Horford? Best player on a team that won 60 games last year.
Cousins? I think he is universally regarded as the most talented center out there on both ends probably right?
Marc Gasol is a DPOY if i am not mistaken- and is the best player on a team that he has led to the playoffs
Drummond is simply amazing- the best player on a Detroit team that is really not that good- yet they are competing in the East BECAUSE of him and his absolute dominance

DeAndre Jordan finally missed a game after playing in 360 straight- and is a dominant player

Whiteside is not in the same tier as those guys. Whitside is in the next tier- with Pau and Dwight and Monroe, and Noah, and Vucevic and Lopez. Maybe he is better than some of those guys in that 2nd tier- but not all of them....

a middle of the pack 2nd tier player is to me- not "dominant".....sorry if that bothers you.

1. If you want to rank top 10 NBA centers, start a thread.
2. Your list of C have won what?
3. Whitside had played how many games, and with whom last year? And you're grading him?

Now, question.
Who is the best shot blocker in the world?

And you say that person isn't a dominant NBA player?

Tristan Thompson is regularly called the best offensive rebounder in the NBA....and you say that person isn't a dominant NBA player?

be good- at one thing- especially when you actively PAD YOUR STATS at that one thing at the expense of the team- yah- thats doesnt make you CLOSE to a dominant player on its own.

Tristan is dominant offensive rebounder, but that's his only above average skill.

He isn't worth his contract, but it'll work out for the Cavs because he fills a needed role.
On his own, he'd be nothing.

Your comparison is idiotic.
Tristan was just a FA and how many offers outsideof the Cavs overpaying over him did he have?

Whiteside will be in the same position in a few months and will have teams fighting over him.

Whiteside is good at more than one thing. He doesn't avg 11.3 REB by mistake

Noah for the rest of the regular season and likely the post season as well.

Very possible last night was his last game in a Bulls uniform

Wonder if Millsap will get a starting spot in the ASG. He's having a damn fine season.
