It's about execution for sure. The kicker isn't going to say he's unlucky. It would just be a thought that runs through his teammates' heads. All the work they put in to try and win the game, only to lose on a bad kick. There's two sides to everything, and I try to see both sides in anything. Helps you stay open minded.
Luck, as far it goes, would be more a ref missing a call like what happened late in the Super Bowl last year when the Patriot corner tripped Jermaine Kearse on a crossing route and it wasn't called.
The refs are part of the game, like your mention of the PATS/RAVENS 2012 where there were 24 penalties against NE. That's not luck.
Kearse's miracle catch later in the game to put Seattle back in it at the 5 was luck.
So, to clarify your statement, NOT my statement. Seattle botched the last play of the SB, allowing NE to win.
Had RW converted that TD pass, Sea wins-NE losses.
Had Walsh made the FG Minny wins-Sea losses.
Meaning, Seattle was the better team in SB49? Is that correct, or am I spinning your words?

Big difference is a DB made a play What play did seattle make to make the FG miss? Yes the pats got lucky in 2012 vs ravens see not hard to admit at allSure. I get that. But ultimately we have no way of knowing why Walsh missed it.
Maybe the fact that Sherman nearly blocked the last kick from the right side made Walsh think he should kick a little left? Or maybe the high snap delayed it just enough to screw up Walsh's rhythm. Or maybe Walsh just had the kick in his head.
Who knows. But ultimately this is no more luck than a QB short arming a throw right into the hands of a defender.
Excuse me ... I'm wrong accroding to this there were 24 total penalities ... 10 to NE
I only remember Belichick grabbing a ref after the game for an explanation ...
but my point is execution vs random bounces of the ball. A 25 yd missed field goal is close to a bounced ball, in my world ...

Again, I apologize for that. That was the regular season game for the next season.
I fail to see how they are similar. Once a football hits the ground where it bounces is pure chance. No matter how many times Blair Walsh kicked that ball, the way he kicked was always going to result in a wide left result.
A missd field goal attempt is the same as a bad throw. The degree of difficulty may be different but both are failures to execute properly.
Petes contract is running up. And i made a deal with carson palmer this year Skoooooo Cards!!!!!!! How ere your holidays vitamike?I don't know if it's been mentioned, as I am not going to read through 15 pages on this topic but I would say save the last Hawks pass in the SB last year, Pete's Seahawks are the luckiest team in NFL history or rather Pete's teams!
Honesty, I've said this since the day he was hired on as the Trojans HC, he has to have made a deal with the devil!
Maybe @clarkson23devils could confirm this?
Either way, his fortunes turned in a dramatic way ever since and the day of that he was hired on as the USC HC, despite the outcry at the time from the Trojan faithful!
I'm all with that brother!Petes contract is running up. And i made a deal with carson palmer this year Skoooooo Cards!!!!!!!
I guess I'm on the side of wondering how many times would Walsh kick the ball that way in comparison to a ball bouncing in a specific direction. His missed kick had randomness to it that favored Seattle.
Palmer is a real good guy. After the tendon surgery he took the time to thank the family of the girl who lost her life in a drunk driving accident. Where his new tendon came from. Went to their home gave condolences and stays in touch with them . Thats class hard not to root for himNot many athletes do thatI'm all with that brother!
Cards are my money pick this year!
Ha ha you stole that flyerhawk from the broadcast where they talked about it being akin to hitting a 3 foot putt in the Masters.People are confusing randomness with probability.
Walsh missing that kick had a low probability based on past performance. But not all kicking situations are the same and we don't how often Walsh might might that kick in that same situation. That's why it is more about execution than luck.
Maybe Walsh misses that 50% of the time given the sitaution. We don't know.
A 5 foot putt in practice is vastly different than a 5 foot putt for $1,000,000.
