I think part of the confusion is College vs NFL

In COLLEGE the entire ball must pass inside the inside edge of the upright. in other words entirely between the uprights. In NFL the ball mus pass inside the outside edge of the upright. in other words over the upright.

This kick in a college bowl game ( or any college game) was no good. this kick in the NFL would have been good.

Look at the kick again, the ball goes through the uprights. They just showed it again, I'll see if I can find a gif.

FG was clearly no good. Best angle was the gametime angle. None of the ball passed inside the upright.
maybe just the tip but we all know just the tip is never good enough

Depth perception messes with your eyes when looking from the crossbar camera angle. The ball went so high it was directly over the upright. So high in fact that there was enough space between it and the upright that it appeared to go inside.

Looked good there but like the Bama fan said earlier the angle makes it tough to tell.

Can the broadcasters not afford two instead of one? What's the point of one camera in the middle that doesn't give any definitive evidence?

Put a camera under each post or don't bother.

Whaaaaatttt?
The rule states that the ball must go BETWEEN the uprights. Therefore, if it is OVER the upright, it is not good. I'm just not sure the ball was OVER the upright. I thought it was INSIDE and therefore good.

Why isn't this review-able.

And either way, the refs explanation was wrong. It was not outside the upright. It was over the upright or good. Not outside.

Over is not good. It must be "between the uprights" according to the rule book.

It is not reviewable because camera angles cause deception.

Go to the Canon website and look for examples of "lens correction." It is amazing how much pictures change when the natural distortion of a lens is corrected.

I found a really good one:

It was no good.

It can't go over the pole.

It's not reviewable because you have 2 refs who stand under each pole. It's impossible that a camera is going to give you a better angle.

Yes, that's why I separated them.

If they were explaining why it was no good they should have just said that. The ball was clearly not "outside" anything.

Hence it was either over the upright (thus, no good) or inside the upright (and good).

Outside is just not a realistic answer. It's 100% factually incorrect.

I think you are parsing the words too harshly. I interpret their meaning of "outside" as "not between the uprights". Whether it was over the upright or to the right of it (from the kicker's perspective) it has the same final result - (from their perspective) it was outside the upright (that is, not between them) and thus the kick was not good.
