re: Kirk's contract....that's a tough call. Obviously he's going to be in the near future plans. But I don't know if I agree that this is the right time to extend him. Coming off a perfect game isn't really when you sit down with an agent to negotiate. There was benching talk a few weeks ago! Some incentive based deal with chance to get a new one if he shows he's franchise worthy down the road.
I like the idea of a modest extension in a week or two. Don't like the options I'm seeing out there for 2016. Kirk seems likely to be the short term answer for now to me. But I trust Scot and co to do what they do best.

Yeah, as long as they don't insult Cousins and don't over pay and commit too much, I think Scot will figure out a good middle ground that protects the Skins and gives Cousins a chance to get paid if he performs.

IM just glad we dont have a defacto GM who is willing to let what could be a solid player go in order to go chasing after the big name expensive free agents from other squads.

Jay amuses me. I imagine his sense of humor helps the locker room.

Not sure I'd classify any players in Skins secondary as "too good.", but if some of the youngsters other than BB have progressed to the point where they've surpassed Hall at the CB position that's a good sign.

And word on Jay's humor. While he's said some things I'm not a big fan of. He does have a "he could be a funny and cool guy to hang out with." He also looks the part of Jon Gruden's baby bro if that makes any sense.

He plays consistently against the Panthers and the Gnats (his nemesis) and I will book it :)

Yeah, that's a next step I'd like to see as well. KC has certainly made improvements this year w/o question. And while he didn't play terrible against the Pats, he didn't get a whole lotta help either, but he managed not to fall too pieces as well as it became more and more apparent. The Skins were going to lose that game. Which imo was a good thing to see or good thing not to see.

Its time though to get the NYG monkey off his back and to if not outright beat a good team such as the Panthers. To at least make it a game that's competitive deep into the 2nd half. He won't be able to do that alone, he'll need some help. I wanna see the Skins put an ass whippin on the Giants though in a real bad way.

IF we can manage to win two out of the next three (with one of those games having to be the Giants) things get interesting.

If you offer KC a contract today, you offer him 3 years at 15 million with 7 guaranteed. You tell him he IS the starting QB from day one next season in the process. He may take it...he may not. But the offer is there.

On the surface, my first thought was that KC can get a much better deal on the open market. But if there is ever a guy that might give a home town discount, it would be him. First, he has to feel a huge debt to Gruden. Gruden basically stuck his career on the line for KC this year. That has to go a long way with a guy like KC. Second, this offense fits him perfectly. It's all based on timing and quick passes. He goes somewhere else and he runs the risk that he gets stuck in an offense that doesn't suit his skills. Having said that, they need to be careful that they don't lowball him too much and insult him. I think I'd wait a few more weeks to see how he fares. If he continues to show improvement through the next few games, then make him an offer but don't get into negotiations with him during the season. Make the offer fair but not overly onerous. I like the sound of a 3 year deal.
