Do you EVER admit that you're wrong or do you sit there all day fighting battles that you're not going to win?
I mean- these guys are just ignoring cold hard facts

3 years in a row the Cavs took on other teams problem contracts to get extra first round picks. Those picks- whether they kept them, or dealt them- it shows how Dan was willing to take on basically dead money in order to jump start the rebuild.

I mean thats not difficult to understand is it? The Clips owner was cheap- Dan Gilbert says- SURE ill take the 40 million left on baron Davis' deal for your unprotected lotto pick!

Sure Lakers- Ill help ya cut salary and take Kapono and Walton- just give us a first rounder and the right to switch another first rounder

sure grizz ill help you get under the salary cap- ill take speights and ellington- just give me a first rounder1

THIS IS WHAT GOOD TEAMS DO THAT HAVE A CLUE.

He sits there all day fighting battles he's not going to win. I think he actually likes embarrassing himself.

No we're not. These are the cold hard facts:

Fact - Gilbert guaranteed a title for the Cavs before Lebron got one.
Fact - Gilbert did not even make an effort to build a competitive team.
Fact - Lebron won 2 titles with the Heat while the Cavs tanked.
Fact - Gilbert got lucky in the lottery. There is no skill in getting to the lottery because there's no skill to losing.

yup....it was blind luck taking a bunch of bad contracts for first rounders. lol.....cmon man.

All i gotta say is that after the 2009/2010 season the Cavs cupboard was BARE- they didnt even have a first round pick that first draft since it was dealt for win-now vet Jamison.

3 short drafts later Dan Gilbert and his management team had the assets to sell LeBron james on coming back. The Cavs are title favorites. The PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING ;)

Lets see how many years it takes the Lakers to be in position to have enough assets to attract a major free agent. CLOCK IS TICKING.

Let's see how many years it takes for the Cavs to hang 16 banners.

Only you would try to compare the Cavs to the Lakers.

All the success James has brought to Cleveland has lead them to the same amount of titles as the Lakers have won during these few, expected, lean seasons.

And he's soon to be an attorney.
Hopefully we all see Wiggy on Court TV.

Why was the Cavs cupboard bare in 2009/2010?
Careful with this answer.

Really ... with Kyrie & Love (and Moz, TT, ..) ... they can't be the Celtics ??

So you're saying they'd have been the 2 seed without James?

Try again when you're a big boy.

I love how people 3 years later make stuff up about who they would have taken. In 2013, Oladipo was originally supposed to go around 5-6 ... dropped as people looked at who was available. Noel was the person most people said would go #1. Coming off an injury, people were concerned about him. (Greg Oden ????) It ends up looking back at it three years later, Noel would have been the best pick. Looking at that draft -- there were no great players. Cleveland definitely screwed up with Bennett -- but that was a crummy draft. (MCW was ROY) The best player was probably the guy drafted #27.

Good documentary about Sam Bowie being taken ahead of MJ. At the time, Bowie was the 'obvious' choice. Jack Ramsey (coach of Port -- HOFer) said that taking MJ ahead of Bowie was barely discussed. Everyone remembers it differently now. Remember that Portland had taken Drexler a year or two earlier.

I'll agree that there was no consensus #1 that year, but nobody was talking Bennett.
I, personally always liked Oladipo because I remember lots of experts were comparing his game to Wades.

Well, only a 2 seed can play a 7 seed.
Chances are, without Janes Cavs are 6-8 seed at best.

that's about where I was thinking...and mostly because the Cavs are in the east...

I thought it was just ludicrous to say they'd be a TWO seed without him...

guessing Wiggy said that...?

a LOT of hate going around here.

And it really cracks me up someone saying the Cavs did a poor job rebuilding. They did EXACTLY the thing you want to do in the NBA - bottom out, clear cap space, acquire extra draft picks, get some value for the vets.

it ESPECIALLY cracks me up hearing it from a Lakers fan seeing as how that rebuild has been a disaster. This will be the 4th straight year the Lakers fail to win a playoff game. They let Howard and Gasol walk for nothing. They STILL OWE 1st round draft picks out to Orlando AND Philly for Nash and Howard.

The Cavs go out there and execute on their cap space to bring in multiple extra 1st round picks. They spend HUGE to get an unprotected lotto pick that hits big- and fill the roster with so much talent that in 4 years LeBron says- "Im coming back". Truly- the Cavs did a 100% rebuild in the span on 4 years.

There are some teams out there that will be EXTREMELY lucky if they are title contenders in 6-7 years...let alone after 4.

All the Cavs had at the end of the 2009 2010 season was a bunch of pretty decent vets that were mostly overpaid that were good complimentary players to LeBron- and then a couple young guys like Hickson and Gibson. Basically nothing in terms of value for building a team.

So- anyone can say what they want to- the facts are right there in front of everyone. In 4 years the Cavs went from a total rebuild- to being favorites to get to the Finals. Ill be interested to see how long the other rebuilding processes' last around the league. LOL :thumb:
