What holes have there been to run through? There was nothing until Big Larry got back last week and there were still not a lot, but it was better.

I am not buying that its the players not executing. Lombardi made some changes last week in the passing game and it instantly improved them.
Im not sure what your point is. Im certanily not defending Lombardi, ive been adamant that he sucks balls. I do know this, zone blocking, schematically puts the blockers in a good position to make their jobs easier physically compared to big on big. What tends to be more difficult is the mental part, it requires communication. I think the line shuffling could certainly cause major breakdowns. Laken has looked lost most of the time. Warford has been out, Lucas sucks pretty bad, Waddle looks rusty. Swanson is only a 2nd year guy and playing center instead of guard. That being said, if they get some time together healthy they should improve. That being said, I refer back to my original point that it is downhill system that doesnt at all fit Ameer. You need a guy that can one cut and power through. That being said, Lombardi's play calling still sucks and Mayhew sucks for picking a back that doesnt fit his OC's blocking scheme. Side point, I was watching NFL something on ESPN and they were talking about AA's fumbling and being known for fumbling. I thought that was funny, tiny hands is doing exactly what he was known for and now they(coaching staff, mayhew) are surprised? SMH.

Hard to believe RG3 hated Shanny Jr so much. Especially now seeing him in ATL.
is going to hate all of his OC's for the rest of his career. They will all tell him he sucks and that will make him hate them.

This blocking scheme is a joke.

7 guys rush the Qb with 5 guys blocking for like 7 series in a row and no adjustments. That's not an execution problem, that's a scheme issue. Lombardi is toast. Caldwell most likely too.

Disagree.

The way you counter those blitzes is a run game or you must get the ball out fast or have the guys to block the rushers. The Lions couldnt do any of that. Swanson was terrible in calling the adjustments, Abdullah and Riddick dont block and Pettigrew was out of the game.

The Vikings were mostly shooting up the gaps, making them decide who to block and they couldnt get it right. It doesnt matter the scheme at that point.

There wasnt a flaw in the scheme, its an issue with the line calls and adjustments.

Blocking assignments have to be dumbed down by the coaching staff if the players aren't smart enough to run an elaborate zone blocking scheme. The Vikings defensive front wasn't blocked in many cases and that is inexcusable. That has happened way too many times this season. When D-linemen come untouched it is a scheme problem.

A perennial top 10 rushing attack is badly needed in Detroit. That would take a ton of heat off of Stafford. That doesn't excuse Lombardi's absolute lack of adjustments this season.

Our Gaurd might be the smartest guy in the organization. And he often blocks absolutely no one.

No way a group of five guys can be that bad without their coaches being to blame. Aside from RT, the group is not lacking in talent in any way shape or form.

Hard for me to see any reason why Lombardi gets another game to be awful in. It's past due for a change.

When speaking of does a scheme matter? Since we have spoke so got damn much about Miami this season. That defense was stagnant all season. Made some changes which also changed their scheme up some. Look at the results from those changes in two games.

You can say it was the Titans and Texans, great, it was. I see what change can do when a coach has no clue how to utilize his own players. Are the Phins contenders? I still say no at this point, but that change in schemes has paid off.

I didn't get to watch yet, but I have to ask if in those first two drives was the blocking well executed? So I ask how if they did on those drives can it suddenly just go away?

Vikings didnt blitz a whole lot until they figured out they couldnt stop the Lions without it. Once the oline let one of the blitzers come free the first time, they never stopped.

Reason I ask about it suddenly going away... If you're saying they made adjustments and our offense did not. How can you just say it is all line calls and not adjusting. Coaches counter each other all game. we all know how to slow a rush down and how coaches can suck safties up or move them back. For Petes sake you can run plays that counter against a front four beating you with simple twists or dropping ends in coverage.

With not watching the game and just reading for you guys I see Lombardi as a over matched QB coach trying to be OC.

Did they attempt some screen passes? Did they put Stafford in the gun and throw some quick slants at the vacated zones?

Hell I saw them rolling out last week away from some blitzes. Did they roll at all.
