From what I have read this rumor is definitely getting some footing. Elway has shown he is not afraid to make the bold move to help his team and Forte would definitely be a very bold move. He would fit the system perfectly with his combination of speed and vision while also being a receiving weapon out of the backfield.

2 Problems that would keep this from happening 1) Salary would put the Broncos in a huge bind Salary Cap wise. If I am calculating right if the Broncos traded for him right now we would have a cap hit of $5.7 million or around that. Cap Space Wise the Broncos are at $6.6 million. That pretty much means we cannot have a single injury the rest of the year. I can't see Elway being ok with that. 2) This might be the big one but I can't see Chicago or Fox wanting to help the Broncos out after the last deal blew up in the Bears face and well Fox was kicked to the curb.

Can we trade somebody who is on injured reserve? Really right now there are only 2 other players that fit the bill where base salary comes into play (that is why the Panthers only have to pay Allen $1 million for their trade since the rest was just bonuses that the Bears had already paid). Louis Vasquez is one of those and Emmanuel Sanders is the other. I can't see us trading either of those guys.

Ware can be traded and not hurt our team . I would not do it but it could be done ,,Why I would not is simple leadership.

I would not touch anyone on defense. That unit is doing well and I don't want to mess it up.

Are there any guarantees RB is our issue and not O-line? I would hate to chase a guy only to have him provide us nothing in return.

To me it is combination right now. OL has not been getting the push they need. They have been spending too much time on our side of the line. Hard for RB's to get much going when the OL is being pushed back into them. At the same time I have seen the RB's miss some huge holes.

The issue to me with bringing in Forte right now is he would be learning a whole new offense. We are talking about it taking maybe a month before he feels comfortable in this offense. To me it is just better to wait and see if the OL can start to gel like they have been and then see what the RB's can do.

I was reading something about a Forte trade to Denver after the Allen and Bostic trade. Obviously speculation but it would make sense.. From our stand point gotta be careful what we give up for a soon to be 30 year old RB free agent, but Allen and Bostic were pretty cheap. Forte isn't going back to Chicago, so I think we could swing a worthwhile deal for us even if it was just for the remainder of the season.

The problem still is the contract. With so much base salary we are left stuck paying something over $5 million to have him if we picked him up this week. Throw in I can't see Fox wanting to help the Broncos out while also weakening his already weak team.

First - I don't think this trade will work - or that Forte while an upgrade is needed, but watch them trade Osweiler for Forte.

The Bears would be looking for a high draft pick.

They could deal the 3rd string QB - he's from Northwestern - give the Chicago fans something to root for - and future considerations.

Not necessarily. He has a high cap number for whatever team would take him on. He is closing in on that dreaded 30 year wall for RB's. Finally he is only signed through this year so with no future guarantee of the player sticking around I would guess it would be a late round pick if they got something for him.

I doubt they could acquire Forte for a late round pick.

The Broncos won't need or expect all the picks they are likely to have to make the roster - they can afford to trade one -mid to late - if it makes sense. Hillman and Anderson would have fresher legs.
