Excellent question. Haven't seen any offset info as of yet. And the fact remains that Galette could very well be suspended for some games this year.

Any time a player is suspended by the league, its considered without pay. And the subsequent dollar amounts do not count against the cap. So basically he is on a game by game basis because its a vet minimum deal with no guarantee money. If the Skins cut him the only thing they lose is the right to match any deal he signs in free agency next year.

Unless the contract is guaranteed. BleacherReport is saying no guarantees via sportac.
Good signing by the skins. Just wonder how those Skin fan who called out Dallas about Hardy think about this signing?

Great thread guys. 1st the LAvel Collins draft saga. We should of drafted him in the 7th round. Its a risk yes but it a good risk to take. Its a 7th round pick. With the Galette signing its a big slap in the face to Murphy and Smith. Smith was a high 2nd round pick and was competing to start at OLB. That is not the case anymore. Plus the organization was hyping up Murphy all off-season. But our team still signs a bad character guy. Granted its a great contract but I didn't thing SM was like that.

I hope Scherff works out. I still cant believe we passed on Williams. Plus if Collins works out with the Cowboys its another strike against SM as a GM. But Galette and Kerrigan do seem nasty as OLB's. Don't get me wrong I like the move but SM is playing games when he says he only signs high character guys.

No offense but please show me which NFL teams you have helped build in the past. Until proven otherwise - SM has a proven track record & deserves the benefit of the doubt. You don't judge moves a few days or even a year after they occur. You judge them 2-3+ years after the fact.

I am pretty sure that neither Murphy nor Smith view this as a slap in the face. This is the NFL where you need all of the talent that you can get due to injuries, contract situations, situational defense, etc. You can NEVER have enough pass rushers.

As for Williams - O-line is a major need for this team & I have no issue with them selecting Scherff - time will tell. We also don't know about how Collins will fare & a team can't select everyone under the sun. You can't simply badmouth a GM for every move that they didn't make - if so then most likely 90% of the NFL GMs should be on the street at this time. Please give this team a year or two before jumping to conclusions. This is the first true GM for this team in ages, and he deserves our patience for at least a few years.

If you just want good football players (w no emphasis on character) then just own it.

Even if the video is NOT Galette, the Twitter rant was enough for me to have wanted to stay clear.

From a character perspective, this isn't about 1 mistake from the past. It's multiple idiocies that go all the way back to college.

Figured as much. Not sure about some other things, but I suggest that fans at least look at the YouTube video for the whole beach incident. When I watch I don't see Galette hitting a woman. To the contrary - he appears to be beating down another guy who is hitting a woman. Don't get me wrong - he should not have been using that belt & perhaps should have been more restrained against the other guy. However - I believe that this incident is being misreported.

That being said - you make a good case in regards to some other incidents. We will see.

look i know you arent a "sheep " but the point is its cheap and not everything that comes out of a GMS mouth should be etched in stone . reporters do that crap all the time .

they talked to the guy and felt he should get a chance . and they should own it if it fails but they didnt risk much at all

Well at least SM said it was on him if it goes south. That I do respect.
