This reminds me, at least a little, of the Don Imus situation from a decade or so ago.

ESPN hired this guy b/c of his "different slant" and controversial opinions, to now fold tent for doing so is absurd. I do suspect his being yanked off the air had much more to do with his leaving their network than it did for his stance on this subject though.

If you go back and listen/read what he said, and how he expounded on it later, this was really much to do with very little.

But hey, the PC world of the USA today again rears it's head.
Agree and Agree. Our youngest son said the exact same thing on the first sentence I bolded.

Whenever I read statements from a pitcher like this I can't help but wonder why were they not able to figure that out within the first couple of innings.

''Honestly, I felt good. I thought I had a pretty good fastball and a good slider, but I was just trying to be a little bit too fine with my pitches,'' said Gallardo, who is winless in his last five starts with three losses. ''I can't allow myself to do that. I have to be aggressive in the zone, because I can't afford to fall behind hitters.''

Doesn't look good on paper.

Rangers: RHP Nick Martinez (5-5) is 0-3 with a 6.98 ERA in five starts since June 9, when he allowed one hit over six scoreless innings in a 2-1 win at Oakland.

Angels: LHP Andrew Heaney (4-0) brings a 1.57 ERA into his sixth start of the season. He has 27 strikeouts and just four walks in 34 1/3 innings, and has completed the seventh in each of his last four starts.

Let me say first, I'm a Mike Maddux supporter. But surely the subject of Gallardo's "fineness" was discussed at length before he ever took the hill.

So after, a few hitters, much less a few innings, why isn't he out there reminding Gallardo about what was gone over "extensively" before the game. Get back to the damn plan man!

I just don't understand coaches sitting around - not just Ranger coaches/mgrs - and watching something transpire, all the while waiting for tragedy to strike, before they react.

DT's Proverb: He who goes to bed in 7th inning gets more sleep and misses great WIN.

Right. I don't want any bandaid solutions. We have had too many that have come and really not add much value and in the process cost us players and then they are gone at season’s end.
From what I have read from JD they aren't looking for rentals but more toward players who will be here thru 2017 and beyond.

Here is another puzzling thought. How can a team have the best road record in all of baseball and yet have the worst home record in all of baseball. That is our Texas Rangers.

If I thought it would really help, I'll be happy to pass out every game in the 7th.

I think it's a different world when you live with these guys for 7/8 months. Showing confidence and being supportive is a huge part of the delicate balance dealing with the massive egos. Knowing the buttons and how to push them is everything. It's not just a ron Washington thing to coddle and be supportive. It's what baseball mangers do

Other than Fielder, Beltre &Moreland the Ballpark seems to intimidate this team

Did you miss a couple.......DDJ and Odor

I'd even put Chirinos in this group. He can't hit for squat. But he doesn't seem to be the least bit intimidated IMO.

And what about Hamilton?
