If it is an earlier game I will sit there and post with the phone. But we picked up our 3 month old grandson Monday night, dropped him off Tuesday night, picked him up Wednesday night and dropped him off Thursday night. And by Friday night at 9:05 PM I was becoming a zombie.

I'm surprised you didn't collapse sooner than that really.

I didn't want to trade/DFA him. I just wanted him sent to AAA till he got his crap together.
Agree on Scheppers to AAA plus if we has Napoli then we have Moreland, Fielder and Napoli all 1B/DH. Somone is going to do a lot of sitting.

The whole Napoli thing was sort of tongue in cheek to pacify the thought of getting Scheppers moved, so that Bannister couldn't keep running him out there in the 8th inning. I merely used nap as a RH bat that might easily be had without giving up anything (scheppers). The only point of adding a RH bat at 1B, would be to move MM for starting pitching candidates for the near future. I agree Napoli is probably done, and Boston would have had to eat most of his remaining salary anyway. I just don't want to give up decent prospects to get RH bat/bats, or have to pay through the nose. We can all put this one to bed

This is the latest from Jayson Stark re: Hamels. It's just not gonna go away until they trade him to someone else, or they decide to sit tight for the season.

The Phillies continue to talk to about a half-dozen teams about Hamels. But other clubs believe that, if he gets dealt this month, it will be to one of four destinations -- the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers the Boston Red Sox or the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers are an interesting piece in this puzzle. One reason is, they're one of just two AL teams (the Yankees being the other) that are not on Hamels' trade-veto list. But there's a second reason just as compelling: The Phillies are bullish on this team's prospects, from Joey Gallo to catcher Jorge Alfaro to a collection of live arms topped by Chi Chi Gonzalez and Jake Thompson.

So it feels, said one AL exec, as if the Phillies have worked hard to keep the Rangers "in the discussion." Other teams question whether a team that's nine games out in its division and six back in the wild-card race would overpay for Hamels when it will have so many free-agent options this winter. But like the Red Sox, the Rangers aren't approaching this deadline with an eye just on the standings.

They're positioning themselves to win next year. So they're looking for long-term buying opportunities. And Hamels might be the best fit out there. They've had longstanding interest. They appear to like Hamels more than most of those free agents. And they would clearly prefer the length and dollars in his contract to the haul someone like David Price is about to rake in.

So never take your eye off a club as aggressive and creative as the Rangers.

Now 8 innings for Hamels no-no, still with 12 Ks and 116 pitches.

And now it's a final.....13 Ks, 129 pitches and NO-HITTER......Good for him....after all, he is still with the "27 games below .500" Phillies.

And this statement from the Associated Press...... Phillies ace Cole Hamels enhanced his trade value even more.

Does it get any more ridiculous than that?

Someone will be enamored by the no hitter and way overpay for Cole, I doubt it is Jon Daniels.

Rangers Focusing On Players Who Could Help Beyond 2015

The Rangers are exploring a variety of possible routes at the upcoming July trade deadline, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. They will approach the deadline neither as traditional buyers nor as traditional sellers, and will instead focus on players capable of helping both now and next season, GM Jon Daniels tells Wilson.

Most of the players we’ve talked about acquiring are multi-year fits, most but not all,” says Daniels. “From an acquisition standpoint, it’s almost more of guys that could fit now but also could fit into a likely off-season plan.”

Nonetheless, the Rangers aren’t yet ready to give up on their season. “We’re realistic about where we are, but we still believe in the team. We’ve got a run in us,” Daniels says.

One player who could fit into the Rangers’ current plans is Cole Hamels, who would help the rotation in 2016, when Yovani Gallardo and Colby Lewis might be gone due to free agency. Wilson suggests, though, that in order for there to be a trade, the Phillies would have to cover a significant chunk of the remainder of Hamels’ contract and would have to accept a return that does not include top young players Joey Gallo or Nomar Mazara. The Rangers could also target Padres starters James Shields and Andrew Cashner as pitchers who could help the team beyond 2015.

Perhaps such moves are unlikely, however. “There’s also a chance we’re boring and don’t do much,” Daniels says. Daniels also notes that the Rangers aren’t close to trading Gallardo despite his impending free agency.

Much remains up in the air, though, and the Rangers’ performance in the coming days could help shape their strategy. The Rangers are 46-49 and well back of both the Angels and Astros in the AL West. They’re 5.5 games behind the Twins for the second AL Wild Card spot. If the Rangers were to lose additional ground in the coming days, that might point them in the direction of trading Gallardo in particular.

Trading Gallardo could be tricky, however, for reasons that go beyond the standings. As FanGraphs’ Dave Cameron wrote yesterday, there’s a high number of starting pitchers potentially available this week. The qualifying also offer creates a potential disincentive to selling. It’s unclear whether the Rangers would extend Gallardo a qualifying offer if they kept him — as Cameron suggests, it’s probably a close call. If they did, though, it could potentially help them patch their rotation for next season.

Seems like we all know all of this, but Ill post it for the hell of it

Odubel Herrera made 2 adventurous catches in the OF in the final 2 innings.
