Will Moreno get his apology? How much of a whiner will Scioscia be? What sort of douchey nonsense will CJ spout?

And can the Rangers keep the offense rolling?

Can we not get our tails kicked in all 3 games this time.

Com'on now.....here it is 3:30 in the afternoon (CT of course) and you're hoping not to get swept. What?

I'm putting this on Ephland's head, we ought-ta get two outta three. Right?

Can't imagine he wouldn't. If it were a reverse situation, I know I'd boo his ass, unmercifully. And I'm not really one to boo.

But the truth is, this whole Josh "situation" is really on Arte's plate a lot more than us or Hammy.

Let me clarify a point that I was trying to make on the previous thread. I think the return for Gallardo that we could get in a trade would be better than the comp pick would be that we would get should we keep him and offer him a QO. That is based on what the Astros gave up for Kazmir. I think I gave some the opposite impression from what I said earlier. Sorry for the confusion.

What the Houston Astros acquisition of As pitcher Scott Kazmir means for the Texas Rangers | | Dallas Morning News

This does increase the possibility of the Rangers getting a good return should they decide to move right-handers Yovani Gallardo or Colby Lewis, both of whom can take free agency after the season.

Kansas City needs rotation help with the loss of left-hander Jason Vargas because of a torn elbow ligament. The Royals were in on Kazmir. With Kazmir off the market, the Royals will look elsewhere for a starting pitcher. The Royals were in Houston last weekend to watch the starts of Lewis and Gallardo.

Part of me just wants to keep him and maybe work something out One good outing from Harry does not guarantee anything. Regardless of the "Cole H" talk, if we keep Gallardo, we maybe don't have to unload prospects and still may be able to resign Yu. I don't see Yu and Hamels both here long term. If you get great haul, fine unload Gallardo. If not maybe we try to keep him

I think he gets at least 4 years with at least $16 million per year and I would rather not spend that on him. When we are ready to compete I am perfectly fine with Yu, Derek, Perez, Thompson, and Chi Chi in the rotation. That still leaves Martinez and Harrison and maybe Colby as fall back options. In 2018 both Ortiz and Tate will probably be ready. If we have money to spend then spend it on a RH bat and about 2 or 3 guys for the pen.

@jonmorosi thinks the Angels and Toronto are possible destinations for Dombrowski. Baseball is stunned he has not been extended.

I will be happy if three of those 5 starters you named are productive. There are no givens on any of these pitchers. And especially not on Tate or Oriz yet.

Putting in good thoughts for this series, though I'm torn. Suppose we sweep the Angels to get within 5.5 of them, does that make us buyers? Or does it make us hesitant to be sellers? I am not on board with buying anything this deadline. Roll out what we have, don't tank but jus play ball and see where we are next year.

Rather than give up at least two top prospects, I'd rather trade Yo and see what we could get for him. We can always try to resign him after this year. There are some second level SP's we could target this offseason that would cost less in dollars and prospects.

Yovani
Zimmerman
Fister
Cueto

Price will get the big contract, those others will be more affordable. They aren't Hamels, but we aren't a Hamels away from winning the West.

That's right. There are no givens and that is why I wouldn't sign Gallardo to a long term contract. He is not a given either.

I know what you're saying and agree. If we do make a buy though, it can only be with the intention of looking at 2016/17 and have not so much to do with 2015 IMO.

Agree 100% on Gallardo. Whatever we can get, and it won't knock our socks off, get it with that thought of next season/beyond.

Actually I am hoping to make it competitive. They made us look like a little league team when they were in Arlington last series and have out scored us on the season 62-29. In Arlington lost 8-2, 13-0 and 12-6. And the 12-6 was not really even that close.

Well, ya know, we have indeed done considerable better on the road than at home this season. So there's some room for optimism there.

But Hitzges just gave some horrible stats re: Colby and the line up he's facing tonight. Listen to this, the Angels starters have hit .318 (think this was the stat) and have a combined OBP well over .400. Yikes

Wow! Yeah, pretty bad. There is not a team I dislike more than the Angels so would love to see us win the series. But, yeah, you know.
