Will Seahawks fans apologize to Clarance Hill after jumping down his throat for that tweet? Give the man credit....he just knew it a month and half before anyone else

Meh. Considering Bennett is still denying having wanted to be traded, nah. Let's be real, every player in the NFL wants to be paid more. Tweeting that part out is hardly deep investigative journalism.

No need to apologize. The tweet says he wants a trade.
MB has been vocal that he is not wanting a trade. He definately wants more $ though.

Screw Bennett. Both of the brothers are total flakes upstairs. He needs to play this out and next season he'll be wearing a different jersey if he so chooses. If he sits out that's just going to hurt his value because nobody would pay what he's making now after pulling a stunt like that. I hope the Seahawks stand their ground no matter what and so be it if he decides not to show up this year.

He knows he's odd man out.

1. Wilson
2. Wagner

any other guy that needs to get paid will be getting it from somewhere else. He's rock solid but he isn't worth the kind of money he's looking for.

Well if you can find some kind of source that says they can do that then I will believe you. I just have researched NFL contracts quite a bit and have never seen the ability to buy out of a contract. Doesn't mean it isn't there but so far in the NFL no one has used it if it is available. Like I said the only thing I have found is if a player retires an NFL team can go after the player to get back some of the signing bonus. The Patriots just tried this with Hernandez since he is in prison. Last I knew the NFL had denied the Patriots getting any kind of Cap relief for him being put into prison.

The reason I think the NFL doesn't allow for this is because NFL teams like to do these huge signing bonuses to players to get cap relief. If all that needed to happen to then get that money back and never have the big cap hit come because of a player was to talk them into going elsewhere if they would buy out their contract to get the next big one I just think that could cause some chaos.

Well the team has the option to accept the buyout, or force the player to either play or retire....Not sure how that affects the cap, just the up front/guaranteed money....

They incur the cap hit on the unallocated bonus either way. That isn't what "buying out a contract is". $12M cap hit to cut him and $8M cap hit to keep him. Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm keeping him if that's the case...

I read today that he wants to stay in Seattle, just trying to get a new contract for more money, even though he just signed one last year....I don't think he'll get it yet, and he's not going anywhere....
Is it just me or do those 2 brothers look like Suh, Daddy may have took a trip to a different candy shop a time or two, looks like.....

Buy out? What do you mean? They can cut him or trade him. Both would accelerate signing bonus proration to the current year and be pretty costly against the cap.

Can't Pete Carroll just get some rich guy to put Bennetts parents in a very expensive house?

Financial woes seem to be on the near horizon for Seattle.
I say welcome the club Jerry and the Cowboys have been in for years. Now we will see if Seattle's GM is all that good.

How do you figure? Dallas keeps reworking existing deals to push back the cap hits until it will eventually collapse. The Seahawks are putting out big contracts to the most important players but they are not over reaching in the amount of years on vets that are approaching the ends of their primes or reworking deals to push back cap hits.

In my opinion, GMs that do that are looking for short term gratification. Schneider seems to be making deals with an eye to the future and not worrying about saving his own ass on a year to year basis.

Leverage or not Bennett and Wilson ate the beginning of the avalanche. With success others will start asking for top dollar.

I don't think so ... Seattle has already taken care of their other important pieces... Bennett is just wasting his time, Wilson and Wagner are the only real negotiations going on right now.... Every other piece has been taken care of...

Ha, you are a little late to the party Manster.
Maxwell just signed for over $60M to Philly. Lost Golden Tate the year before and many others have been let go in the last 2 years. That is how the team 11 picks in the last draft. Bennett is under contract and if he wants $ that badly, he should show up. Both Bennett brothers pull the same strings.
The Seattle GM is not caving under pressure to sign RW. In fact, he is as cool as a clam keeping everything quiet and professional. If RW requires Schneider to sign him for $40 GuhZillion, the GM has no control over that. He can only control how much the team he helps run will pay for a player.

Seattle will get another year out of him for sure (he's getting paid enough and while someone did confirm a player has set out nearly an entire season, it's extremely rare). After that I wouldn't mind shipping him elsewhere for a 2nd rounder (potentially 1st based on Seattle's placement). I think Frank Clark will take over Bennett's role completely and no surprise Seattle drafted him. He's got the exact mold of Bennett, is cheaper, and helps Seattle fit in Wilson's contract.

It's pretty obvious Seattle is looking to ship out Bennett/Okung after this season. Poole/Clark will easily take over those starting jobs... Clark was easily a late 1st rounder without off field issues (which didn't really exist because.... nothing was found!) and Poole just needs a year on the bench to learn. He was a 2nd rounder if he was NFL ready.

Looks like Seattle is about to fall apart. Cant keep everyone and everyone is looking for a better contract on seattle. This up coming year might be seattle's last year of winning.

Seattle fans should be grateful their team went to 2 straight SB's.

Speculation... Seattle has locked down most of their key players... Plus as the business roll's, who's to say Pete and John didn't hit on the draft again.... So far they've done a pretty dam good job in that area ...
