Why do fans defend their teams so much?

I made a thread a few months ago about how different the 1990 draft would have been had Jimmy Johnson not thrown his #1 overall pick at Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft in '89. I speculated that Jimmy would have taken Cortez #1 in '90, and may have still gone with Maryland in '91. imagine the defense with Tez and Maryland in the middle....

As for Blades, not sure he can be that overrated, most people don't even remember who he is, and those who do remember the shooting of his cousin more than anything. He was a solid possession WR before possession WRs were glorified. He was the last Seahawk WR to make the pro bowl (1989).
i had forgotten he was the last WR for you guys to make the probowl.

until seahawk fans became green wig and hulk foam hand wearing douchebags (present company probably excluded) we had a great kinship with seattle. NE west. one top corner of the country and the other. bad ownership, bad drafts, bad QB play...

for every bruce armstrong we drafted, we had 10 leonard russels...and for every cortez kennedy you had 10 koren robinsons.

I'm not privy to PA police reports, court records en sech.

But I definitely read it on the Internet.

I don't know what the big deal was on the motorcycle accident either. Like Manny Ramirez said, it's not like he was raping nobody.

The incident didn't occur in PA...it was in Georgia. But OK, if some folks want to revisit it, let's review the undisputed facts:

1. Though underage for drinking purposes, the woman was a legal adult...over the age of consent.

2. She was already visibly intoxicated when she entered the bar, and she went there SPECIFICALLY to meet Ben. Nobody dragged her to his table, or from there to the restroom.

3. She couldn't keep her story straight long enough for the police to write it down.

Yes, messing with her was poor judgment, and reflected badly on his character at the time. But r-ape? Not hardly.

In week 3, 1992, Seattle won what must have been the ugliest game of the year 10-6 in New England (Kelly Stouffer, Baby!!!!) and what that really gave each team? New England - Drew Bledsoe. Seattle - Rick Mirer. We won the game, lost the next 4 years.... I can see why you have such fond memories of Seattle a couple decades ago.

Sometimes I wish this thread was "How do fans..." Instead of "Why do..."

It'd motivate me a little more. (Best part aboot being a lifelong fan(possibly only advantage) of a shitty franchise like the Lions, You don't have to bother defending. And nobody cares to rip on em anyway.)

I always thought Morgan was a stud (should be a HoFer IMO).

You don't want to go there. My QB got a 6-game suspension for getting a BJ from a voluntarily drunken coed in a restroom during the off-season. (2-game reduction later, for admitting that he screwed up, and completing counseling).

Meanwhile, Plays-in-a-Dress compromises the integrity of an actual game...a conference championship...and, though apparently uncooperative and unrepentant, he gets only four games off. Glass houses, en sech.

I suspect that history will be kinder to Ben, than to your pampered prima donna.
Couldn't have said it better myself North! :suds:

Just look at that line from the boxscore. We only got 1 first down and that was in the 3rd qtr (Zorn to Largent).
Total yardage gained? -7. Try to top that!
and yes, I kept my season tickets even through our 2-14 season.

Before I was born, but I've seen the box since. Sad thing is, Seattle was decent that year, and still got crushed by that Rams defense.

agreed.

extremely underrated considering what he had for QB's and time to get open. nearly 11,000 yards receicing and a 19.1 average for his career?

led the nfl in average per catch 3 straight years and once in TD's...on the patriots? he was a beast in 86.

That was the worst game in our history. How do you get a 1st down yet lose yardage over the entire game? Zorn hands off to...Oh, 3 yard tackle for loss. Zorn drops back and..Oh sacked for a 6 yard loss. Then repeat, repeat, repeat.

Zorn was crazy that year. He had 4 games with 3 intereceptions, take those 4 games out (plus the one against the Rams) and he was 9-2 with a 98.6 passer rating. Just so up and down that year. He could definitely play like one of the best, but then turn around and have a game like these.
