Why do fans defend their teams so much?

The way life is structured, you will always be guilty of something, if you don't believe it, ask your boss. It would be far more productive for Pats fans to shut up, including myself, but that is so hard to do. So you have fans yapping about what the media said. Really.

It's rather silly.

Not just the ridiculous display we've seen from Pats fans for the last decade with the defense of their rampant, immoral, low down dirty cheating. But with fans across the board. It's like a roster is made up of nothing but their little brothers at times.

Don't forget the rampant slithering of the Broncos henchman Elway to win a couple of bowls in his later years after getting his butt whipped many times.

Not sure I follow....

...... I don't root for Denver, in anything. But John Elway looks a lot like a horse. Made sense when he refused to be a Colt so he could be another equine. All while staying far, far away from Indiana. (Peyton Mannings ugly ass took longer to move on wards and upwards.)

True, Elway probably looks more like a horse than Manning. Maybe that's why they hooked up.
NFL is so confusing.

fined nearly 2 million over 2 "gotchas" by the NFL for grossly circumventing the salary cap rules to pay elway and terrell davis.

they dont win back to back titles without grossly cheating the cap...thus the heavy fines and draft pick losses.

no one ever mentions that tho...whats worse? 1 psi out of a football or being able to pay your 2 stars illegally in order to win those titles?

Patriots fans are passionate about the team they root for.
All other teams fans are blind homers who just like to stir up shit!

Fans are emotionally tied to their team. Many cannot or simply won't admit they were wrong. I liken it to a mother saying "My Billy will never kill all those people, he's such an angel", even when caught in the act.

There's a difference between supporting your team vs. supporting a player.

True fans always support their team. But supporting a player, say Tom Brady (Ray Rice, AP, etc etc), sheds light on that particular supporter's morals.

There are a lot of emotional highs and lows when you follow a sports teams. So when others are picking at your team for "stuff", you get emotional.

I'm willing to concede my homerism but when others don't concede that, it's time to call Foul.

I never understood why it bothers someone to hear negative comments about a team they support.

Personally, I could care less as those comments will not waiver my support and you just end up debating opinions which gets you nowhere.

To each his own I guess.

lol I figured someone would be quick to pull Ben into it...

I'll admit at first I didn't jump in Ben's corner. It was a very shady situation, the whole bathroom crap on the first case. I was never one to say whether he was guilty or not. Sure the betches could have been gold digging, but Ben should have known better to put himself in those situations in the first place. The 2nd accusation was more far-fetched though, that betch was straight up "after that money".

After he was found Not Guilty on both cases, I buried both situations with blanket belief and supported him. Only the haters held the grudge. If he was found guilty then I would be singing an entirely different tune.

A true fan always backs up his(her) team... Good or bad...
Yeah. If a fan won't defend his own team, then who will? I speak from experience because I've stayed with the Cardinals through the Leinart, Warner, Skelton, Hall, Lindley, Stanton, Palmer, Thomas era. I mean, it was nice with Warner and Palmer has been a plus when healthy, but in the other years, it hasn't been too bright.
