Blanks has a .236 career average. He is having a very hot streak now, but can we really count on him hitting significantly above his career average? Last year some thought Rosales had finally arrived, but eventually he has come back down to earth. Won't the same thing happen to Blanks? The last time he got a significant number of at bats was 2013. He hit .299 through his first 117 ABs. After that he hit .202 through his last 163 ABs.

We might want to tap the brakes on how much Blanks is going to contribute to this team over the course of a year.

I understand what you are saying but what Mitch are we getting? If it is the Mitch of last year then I am okay with taking a chance on Blanks. Maybe he figures it out like Cruz did and maybe not. And we need some RH bats. It is a tough call but for now you have to go with the hot hand.

I am confused Scotty ... DFAing Rosales and demoting Odor to make room for Field (or Lucas) means you have somebody to play 2b but you now have nobody to backup Elvis and Beltre. If you want to bring up the other of Field (or Lucas) ... when then you need another 40man roster spot.

i just hate Rosales. he is a worthless piece of crap

ican live with Kickham being DFA'ed but i just think Rosales is a waste of a roster spot

That may be, but you've got to have someone to back up Fields, Beltre, and Andrus.

I am just saying to remember that Blanks is going to be a .236 hitter. If a decision has to be made between him and Moreland then I would go with the one who is the better player overall. You have to figure in defense at 1B as well. Both players are capable of hot streaks, but if one has to go and one has to stay then I think you go with the better overall player. When we are competitive again in a couple of years neither one of those guys will be starting. I like Mitch in a reserve role.

Not saying we're a great team by any means but there's just now way I can believe we're bad as the way they played through the first 21 games or so. Whats the deal with the shitty crowds in Houston? It's the best story in the baseball season so far and the Rockets weren't playing last night. I get school is still going on but I really hate the kids in school excuse but then I don't have kids so perhaps I'm speaking out of my ass.

Been wondering if anyone was going to bring this up. To have less then 16,000 for a game, in a city which should be starved for a decent team, is disgraceful IMO.

He won't be 29 until late this season, and he's only had about 800 AB at the ML level. So maybe/hopefully he's a late bloomer. Happened before.

And EG is on Norm's show next if you're interested.

May be the expense of having two major events at home at the same time plus school. IDK

My thoughts as well. Plus you have to go with who is doing well now when neither has been doing well in the last couple of years.

Possibly but in 2011 Ranger fans would have showed up regardless.

i know but i couldn't never understand the fascination the Rangers have with the guy. he can't hit worth a damn and he is below average at every position he covers

Who do you have in mind that is readily available to step in and do the job. UIF are not easy to acquire which is why Rosales is around. If Profar returns, Then Fields may be the man.
