Blanks has a .236 career average. He is having a very hot streak now, but can we really count on him hitting significantly above his career average? Last year some thought Rosales had finally arrived, but eventually he has come back down to earth. Won't the same thing happen to Blanks? The last time he got a significant number of at bats was 2013. He hit .299 through his first 117 ABs. After that he hit .202 through his last 163 ABs.
We might want to tap the brakes on how much Blanks is going to contribute to this team over the course of a year.
I understand what you are saying but what Mitch are we getting? If it is the Mitch of last year then I am okay with taking a chance on Blanks. Maybe he figures it out like Cruz did and maybe not. And we need some RH bats. It is a tough call but for now you have to go with the hot hand.
