Totally agree with you. I actually do have at least one close friend who got into a brawl with her husband. At least a slap was exchanged. The situation was volatile and the issue one of fidelity. Tempers are going to be sky high in a situation like this no matter what. It is a difficult line between protecting yourself and 'abusing' your significant other, as a man when in this type of situation. That's why I said I'd seen Both sides of an issue like this. I do not believe that the women is always right. You can be a part of the problem and bear blame. What cannot be lost regardless, is the physical advantage most any man will have over most females. This can't be lost in a discussion of domestic issues, nor can it be the only thing looked at.

For all the gender neutrality the (DV) law seeks to achieve, it is decidedly one-sided when it comes to a victim claiming DV in California. That doesn't always have to be the female, but it most often is. The standard is low and, if you're in a domestic relationship of any kind, you're best advised to refrain from getting physical.

Lulz. It is not a secret...:pound: But it is not something I bring up very often either. Most on this board actually know this, you are just new :)

I always pictured you looking like Scot. When I read you had a mancrush on him, I thought more of the same. I can honestly say that I've never met a female Redskins fan in Cali. Lot of 'em y-chromosomed Raiders and Cowboys fans, though. :)

I should add, given the numbers of abused spouses and the multitude of ones unreported, I really don't have much of an issue with a low threshold for investigation. I just want the investigation to be fair and unbiased.

Agreed. But I can't tell you how many victims then walk back the allegations to put themselves right back at square one.

Yeah, I recall that. And you're BFFs with Kevin Shee - na - han. :)
Wrong! But we were more than passing acquaintances in HS and we both attended U of M as well.

That's what makes the situation so tragic and difficult. These poor people are beaten down mentally as well as physically. They are true victims.

Oh, I see. What brought you out to Cali? And I'm sure you can ply some inside info from Mr. Sheehan. Love to hear him on those podcasts.

Collins plans to sign, once hes cleared | ProFootballTalk

I'm not sure who's advising Collins, but his continuing game of chicken is backfiring on him. After he threatened not to sign if he wasn't drafted after the third round, no one took him, potentially costing him millions of dollars. Now, after going undrafted, he's saying he'll sign after getting cleared. But what if he doesn't? Even if he does, how long will that take. What if he's cleared right around training camp when rosters are set and cap money is spent? Not only will he miss out on a lot of important offseason activities, the team signing him will have far less money to offer him.

He's got to realize that the sooner he signs, the better off he'll be. He will start getting paid, training with his team, and getting prepared for his future. What happens if that criminal investigation goes sideways? The team that signs him takes that risk.

Very true...the damage is done in terms of the contract...it's going to be the same wherever he goes, but it does make sense to get on the right team...if he goes to a team and doesn't play early it might effect his next contract...pick a team where he has the best chance to start and get to work.

Exactly. But will any team give him that chance? If there's anything to the DV allegations, he may be SOL with most teams not named the Raiders and Cowboys.

I don't ply him too much with skins questions but maybe I should via Twitter. He loves that format.

Also, when McCloughan was asked about Collins, he gave a "no comment" response. This is different than a flat-out denial. I'm not sure if there's anything to read into that, but I'll note it for the record.

The way I see it now, the issue is this: if Collins is cleared and he does have past record of DV, is it too much of a risk to sign him as a UDFA notwithstanding personnel guidelines

Very good points, and what interesting revelations we've had with two of our members. :)

Yea bro, you are just rather new around here. Three things that most who came over from the mouse know.

It sure does. My firm has a DC office and I don't mind going back to visit. I'd love to watch a game at Fed Ex, though some are cautioning me against that.
The parking and getting in and out of FedEx is a nightmare. But seeing the skins live is always a worthwhile prospect in my opinion. Course it's a hell of a lot better when they play well.

I've always wanted to go. Maybe I'll watch the Bucs game. They can't possibly lose that one, right? But I'm thinking of going to watch the Falcons game in ATL.

I wanted to go watch the Raiders game in Oakland, but thought better -- much better -- of it.
