Here is some info:

The next season of “True Detective” will be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system,” says series creator Nic Pizzolatto.

That intriguing preview came in an interview with HitFix's Alan Sepinwall, one of the very few Pizzolatto has done around the Season 1 finale of the HBO series.

What else do we know about the show? Not much. It hasn't officially been renewed, no actors have been cast, and Pizzolatto hasn't even presented his idea to HBO.

Well, it does appear that Pizzolatto is ready to move on and pull the inner beauty from another section of the country for us all to be intrigued/horrified with. I know I won't be visiting the bayou anytime soon.

Seems weird.

Those bridge and highway designers are a bunch of sick, fetishists! ;)

Really enjoyed the final episode. It was a little different than I expected. I thought Rust's final speech was really good. I was frankly surprised that Rust didn't die. This was a great description from the writer...

The challenge was to create an emotionally resonant ending that made the journey worthwhile. And it felt to me like my proper relationship to the characters should end with me allowing them to walk away into some kind of immortal life outside of this show. I mean, it ends with them exiting stage right, right? We don’t know what kind of life they’ll have. But I think we can be sure that each man is more willing to acknowledge the presence of grace. That was one of the ways that they both failed the same: Neither man would accommodate the idea of grace for their own reasons. Where I wanted them to go in their journeys wasn’t a point of redemption or conversion or even closure but a point of deliverance. They are not healed, but now, for the first time, you can imagine a future where they are healed. And before that was never a possibility for Cohle and hardly a possibility for Hart. But now it’s a real earned possibility.

Rumor I heard for Season 2 several weeks ago was Denzel Washington and Shia LeBouf, which seems like a really odd pairing.

Perhaps pizzolatto is looking at a long haul trucker serial killer type theme :noidea:

A Highway of tears type story would hit pretty close to home

Denzel can mesh with anybody, I think that may work.

Entertainment weekly had a top 10 season 2 partners list and #1 was Denzel and Ryan Gosling

the other 9 were more of the "ha-ha-that-would-be-funny-if-it-ever-happened" variety

The hunt for a new pair of True Detectives is on after Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson confirmed they would not be back for season 2, with Brad Pitt being one of the names in the frame.

The role is one of the most coveted in Hollywood thanks to the success and scope of the HBO drama, which will start afresh with a new case and new police investigators for its second outing.

According to Hollywood Life: "Brad’s name has come up many times, it’s just a matter of what his other commitments are.

"Brad has tight relations with HBO — he teamed up with Ryan Murphy last year to produce the HBO movie The Normal Heart. I know everyone would be thrilled to have him onboard."

Despite rumors to the contrary, Jessica Chastain is not joining the Season Two cast of True Detective. One day after Nerdist reported that she'd been offered a lead part on the show, reps for the Oscar-nominated actress confirmed to E! that Chastain won't be featured on the acclaimed HBO series. HBO has also denied the reports.

Well that sucks. I loved her character in Zero Dark Thirty. Thought she was excellent in it.

Jessica Chastain’s Not Doing ‘True Detective’ // Brad Pitt at "Top of the List"

Jessica Chastain is sorry about the minor Internet frenzy started when word got out that she’d been approached to star in the second season of “True Detective.”

As it turns out, she’s not doing it. Chastain shot down the news, first reported in an exclusive by the Nerdist, at the Cannes Cinema Against Aids benefit for amFAR.

“It’s such an awkward thing,” Chastain said. “That news broke yesterday and it went crazy on the Internet. There was so much of an explosion. Also it’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens, it takes away from whoever plays the role. I love Woody Harrelson, and I’m gonna watch the second season just like I watched every episode of the first. But I won’t be on it.”

According to the Daily Star UK, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt could be the star of "True Detective" Season 2. The report suggests that the actor is "close to signing a deal" to star as the main cast member.

Brad Pitt is reportedly "thrashing out last minute details of a deal" with HBO. "12 Years a Slave" actor has already given the "green light" to the new project.

That trailer shows nothing but I love it! Was curious to see how this cast would do but just from that quick clip it looks dark and dirty, just like season 1. I think it's going to be a good one.
