Honestly, I hope she does well and it is not long before being a male or female referee is of no consequence. In reality, whenever she misses, or appears to miss a call (and every referee does), it will be magnified and beaten to death by the media and online discussions. Hopefully she and the NFL are tough enough to get past that. Speaking of being tough enough - in the picture she looks like Jeanette McCurdy, who played a tough tom-boyish character that would be perfectly suited for this challenge! (Yeah - I shouldn't know that, but I have a daughter that watched iCarly non-stop!)

Now they're comparing this to the Michael sam situation? The way this could be different from the Sam situation is if this lady is qualified to be an NFL ref. Sam was not qualified to be an NFL football player. I sure hope the NFL is putting in a ready-made ref rather than a token female which would be insulting to women and make it harder for the next one. Sarah Thomas, do your homework, and be ready.
