Every qb has question marks comming into the pro's.

Is mariotta perfect? Hell no, but he can make every throw in the nfl catalog, hes fast, durable and most importantly he DOESN'T TURN THE BALL OVER. When dude throws an int it makes news.

Hes as good a pro prospect as any ive seen in years. I think he has an extreme boom/bust player. He has the skill set to be a faster Aaron Rogers, and the down side of becoming jake plummer... ill gladly take it at 20.

Hammer - Your Titans aren't giving up on Mettenburger are they? I like that kid.

Not sure why people keep saying this. They're on record as "all in" on Mettenberger next season. Mariota can't do a quarter of what Mettenberger already does.

Probably because Whisenunt and the GM are under fire and willing to gamble to win now. They have nothing to lose and the fear is that they risk it all on Jameis or Mariota. If they do, a lot of fans will walk away from the team.

If I remember right, there's a little website that keeps sending spammers to recruit new members from here so we make them work a little for it. :D I think it has that word in the URL. Forgot about that actually...

If he fell into our lap at 20 id do a backflip. It all depends on senior bowl week. If he shreds a very good crop of defenders comming out from the pocket, hes gonna go very high.

Two things help us though

1. Jameis winston comming out

2. Cardale jones' play.

If jones shreds Oregon, hes gonna be a first round qb. His size and speed, big arm and confidence are what qb coaches dream of. I can easily see winston go 1st, followed by jones and mariotta slipping to 20. But I wouldn't be surprised if the giants tried to fuck us by taking him or trading back with say, denver or Arizona who will be taking a qb.

The way I see it

Tenn, NO, Zona, Den, Tampa, houston, and the cowgirls will be looking for a qb high. Some for now, some for transition from older 35+ aged qbs.

dallas could also leap frog us. We all know how much jerruh loves star power.

he already said hes coming back.......

What does Todd McShay know? He's not dropping until the Bucs pass on him.

There is a lot of talk that Mariota being drastically over rated. We will see. We know he fits our offense, don't know about anyone elses.

He is drastically overrated as far as NFL talent. the NFL is a different world where and he would have a lot of learning to do before he would be affective. And I don't agree that he fits your system either. The Eagles may run some spread option concepts but it doesn't look much like the offense from Oregon. You're QBs rarely run. Why? Because these guys are paid a lot of money to be on the field and the chances of being on the field go way down when you run a spread option. That's fine when you've recruited 6 QBs but when you carry 3 and only one of them really can run the spread option, it's not smart football.

Let me correct you, our Qb's don't run....WHY? Because they can't!!! Chip wants to run the read option real bad, Seattle runs it with Wilson. Foles is slower than a 90 year old woman with a hernia, and Sanchez might be one step faster. :pound:

I don't buy any of this Mariota dropping stuff ... the only way I don't see him going #1 is if 1. he has a horrible game against Ohio State "combined" with Winston somehow proving that teams have zero to worry about moving forward with regards to him off the field. Cam Newton who basically had one year of production at Auburn and was even more of a run first QB than Mariota ... was the first pick of the draft and ended up passing for over 4000 yards off the jump. Marcus is squeaky clean, a very hard worker off the field and a team first guy with all the physical tools you want in a QB ... at worst I see him going 3 unless he has the worst game of his career tomorrow night.

Michael Vick could still run and he chose to go with Foles. I'm not buying that, I think Chip is smarter than that.

Cam Newton was not more of a run first QB than Mariota.

Cam Newton's college stats:
Passing yards: 2908
Rushing yards: 1486

Marcus Mariota college stats:
Passing yards: 10,463
Rushing yards: 2198

Like I said ...

I am not sure if you had the name right or not. If I am not mistaken Cardale Jones was the 3rd stringer on the team. On top of that he has a total of 71 pass attempts for his entire college career. Not sure how he is drafted before the 6th round even if he does come out.

Unless of course I misread the entire thing and you meant a future first round QB.

He sure was! I also think teams wanna make sure they don't get another Brady Quinn. The knock on Mariota is he does not throw that well from the pocket, so it limits the number of teams that will really want him in rd 1.
Chip would, because he ran Chips offense, but nobody else runs Chips offense in the NFL.

Wouldn't Aaron Rodgers serve as a better comparison? Mostly because he was expected to go second overall, but slipped to the 20s and now he's actually good...
