Nothing to see here. Possible competition for Zac Dysart, but that's about it.

That said, I DO have the feeling this could be Manning's last season with the Broncos.....

Prob right. Just seems kinda strange that they do it this time of year. usually when a player is brought in for try-out this late, its for depth because of an injury to starter or role player.

Actually teams bring in players all the time that we never hear about. I'm a little surprised this one got brought up considering at best they would be a practice squad addition. Most likely he is more of a future's contract possibility. Most players being brought in at this time fall into that category just seeing who to lock up now to have for training camp next year.

I agree with the opinion that he's a reserve squad/ practice squad consideration come the end of the season. He's not a very good passer (Even Tebow has a better completion %), just big and athletic. I don't think Denver would have any other intentions unless Manning was definitely OUT and we were forced to start Osweiler for the final stretch. Last I checked, Manning's a "Go" for Sunday :yahoo:

Just curious, what makes you say that? Everything I've heard indicates he'll definitely come back next year.

It is probably making news because Manning and the passing game are being categorized as struggling.

More gut feeling than anything. But if you also look at it from a Salary Cap standpoint, it would make financial sense. I guess it just depends on how old Manning feels (although I'm not sure what the roster date is for the next season to become guaranteed. I was under the impression it was rather early)

The only way Manning isn't coming back is if an injury is bothering him. I have noticed that after crisp passes most of the season, he's been throwing quite a few weak floaters the last few games. I wonder if his neck or shoulder is bothering him. It concerns me a little, but it could also be that he's just in a slump. We'll find out soon. As long as he's ok, he'll be back next season. In fact he has said he wants to keep playing until he can't play well anymore. His passer rating is 105.7 so obviously he's still in top form. He relies on his brilliant brain more than his arm so I could see him playing at this level for 2 or 3 more years. He also knows that he MUST win another super bowl before he retires. It would not look good if the greatest QB of all time statistically won only 1 super bowl. He would be labeled as a stats guy that wasn't clutch in the playoffs. He needs to win another super bowl! I predict he will, either this season or next season.
