ESPN taking it to the Big 12 commiss about the One True Champion discussion, he is totally backing out of everything he has said, he needs to be removed.

BEWAHAHAHA.... Big 12 Commissioner "It seems we were penalized for not having a CCG, and i wish we would have been told earlier that this would be the case"..... I think everyone has been saying it since the CFB first was in discussion.

You'd think that they'd learn the lesson from when the PAC was the only conference without a CCG.

It does send a message that this committee doesn't care about margin of victory against shitty teams. It's something to note in the future. But I do think it is fair (and keep in mind, I had TCU at #4, so I'm not some Frog hater).

If you thought TCU, Baylor, and OSU were close last week, and TCU clearly beat the worst team, it makes sense to drop them if you don't care about margin of victory against bad teams.

Very good point(s) ...

and ...

tOSU gonna draw whole lots mo' $$$$$ than a TCU or Baylor.

In the end they did get it right, but the absolute dumbest thing they could have done was release rankings before today. Had they not done that no one would even bat an eye at these choices.

I agree they got a little greedy pushing the playoffs. If this was blind I couldn't see as many complaints. They got it right

Now we kinda see why the Committee had TCU 'strategically' placed ahead of Baylor all of this time.

Consistency is an admirable quality, but round robin is not weaker than CCG.

Rr you play all the fucking teams. The best, the second best, the third best, the passing team, the run heavy, the good run d team, the quick tempo team, the team you might not match up well against.

Fuck. Consistency is a good point, but round robin is STRONGER. so consistency is good, but if you're going to not have it, make sure you're better. Round robin is demonstrably better.

I prefer round robin too. I prefer smaller conferences. But it doesn't matter what I prefer. The sport is headed in a different direction (larger conferences covering a wider geographic footprint, and a Conference Championship Game is the new standard). So, like it or not, that is the way it is happening.

It hurts the sport when one conference 'holds out', and doesn't get with the program, and instead decides to play by a different set or rules. That helps nobody. Instead, college football will be stronger when all the conferences are playing by the same set of rules.

i like that idea with automatic bids for conference champions.

Seriously, take the top 8 teams and let them prove it. Nobody can take the 9-10th ranked teams crying very seriously. This will force teams to cut back on the amount of games they play (if people bitch about them playing too many games) and schedule tougher OOC opponents.

whether that is true or not, the fact is: The members decide on whether to add members to the conference.

As it stands now, the only way the Big12 can play a conference championship game is to increase the membership to the conference. The NCAA would not grant them a waiver for a CCG, even if they wanted one.

SO what this says is, the Big 12 MUST add a couple of teams, as it stands now.

I've been saying this for quite some time. And if this doesn't convince them all that they need to expand to 14 teams by adding four, then they have an issue amongst themselves for not realizing this ... especially after today's 'snubbing'. I'm sure the Big XII can find four schools to join the conference. Once poster suggested Cincy ... surely there are three other 'worthwhile' school out there. Wisen up Big XII.

Another reason I've been for 8 teams, vice 4. You're always gonna have this argument when you have five Power Conferences and only four playoff spots. It's ridiculous that the NCAA doesn't see this.

I like the 4 team format. It seems like anytime a sport has a playoff everyone always wants more teams in every year. If we get 8 there will be a large group of people calling for 16.

Make the playoff at least eight teams, and most of the above arguments and bellyaching evaporate.

So, no bowl selection show? Alrighty then. I was looking for something to watch.

There could be one later tonight. I just know the ACC has a show online at 5:30 and they're the first to release the ACC bowl teams games

Playing every team in your CONF is fucking better than CCG. Fucking idiots.

"Ohio State played s good team"

Baylor and TCU played every fucking team, asshat

And some of us tried to tell you that not having a CCG was gonna bite you in the ass when it came down to the final selection. It is what it is and until they expand this to 8 teams, we'll have this butthurting probably every year.
