I claimed that prior to the game, the Broncs were the top team. TDs argued that point:

Not true, at all. Broncos haven't played consistently well all year.

Thus, the reference to power rankings. TDs is incorrect; Broncos were the top team in the league 'till the Pats smacked 'em down. Pats got smacked down in Kansas City. The difference is that the Pats have bounced back while the Broncs are still trying to right the ship.

1) Power rankings are pure media BS used to drum up clicks and views. They never even follow their own logic so using them to prove the broncos were the top team is questionable.

B) Pats were floundering going into Arrowhead. That whoopin' was a wake up call. Don't act like the pats struggling against the chiefs was a one-off type while the broncos have been in a funk for weeks.

To be honest, the broncos had their issues that no pats fan wants to discuss. They nearly lost to the colts and chiefs at home to start the season, it took 3 quarters to get it going against the seahawks, and they rocked an already injured cardinals team. They handled the 49ers but that is not as impressive as it would have been last year.

The broncos were never as strong as the media built them up to be. They also have been struggling recently. Part of that is the inconsistency of the team that has been around all season. Some of that could be getting blown up by the pats. I don't think any objective person can argue that the pats are solely responsible for the broncos recent struggles.

We're all looking forward to that game and I'm sure we'll hear Pats fan on SportsHoopla say something snide about "this is like Miami's own little Super Bowl this week."
Nope, Miami won the Super Bowl in Week 2, everybody knows that.

I don't see this as a troll thread at all and I know the OP does in fact have a good understanding of the NFL.

The fact is, the Broncos haven't been playing consistently good this year. Whether it's the funk from getting their assess kicked in Feb, having so many new faces on both sides of the ball, a vanilla game plan or just playing thru a rare 3 game road trip, we haven't been the same team.

I know every Broncos fan has scratched their head at this team this year. I think the Broncos just need to go out and play each game as if it's their last and not try looking ahead to the playoffs and playoff seeding. Take care of Sunday and worry about next week, next week.

Really it has actually been a struggle all season. The team on both sides of the ball plays amazing for maybe half of the game in most of our games but then falls apart in the other half. To me this is more about the communication side of things than anything else. On defense we have been without really our leader in Trevathan all year. He is the guy that gets everybody into the right position and is the guy that steps up his game when we absolutely need a play. He returns this week to practice so my guess is the defense especially come playoff time should show some improvement just by him being on the field.

On the offensive side of the ball we have yet to settle on an OL set that we like. We have changed the starters now I think 4 times this season. The OL always needs time to build communication so changing the unit every few weeks does not do well. We changed it right before the Pats game and it showed big time. This past week against Miami was the first time we finally saw this unit play in unity. It looks like this might be the group that we use the rest of the season. I'm hoping that means communication will improve and this unit will not get the stupid penalties like they have for almost the entire year that has really hurt our offense.

But it is not objective.

2) That's what we're saying

The difference is the degree. Rmilia and you would have us believe that the broncos are so demoralized by the loss that they are struggling and that is the only reason. The broncos may have been down in the dumps after the loss but I think the past three weeks are more of a continuation of what they have been doing all year.

Have to agree with this. Yesterday was the first time I would say the offense played with much consistency and even there they had a couple of times of struggle which is expected against such a good defense as Miami. Again why I point to the communication side of things for their struggles in they have shown signs on both sides of the ball of being dominant but just seem to make stupid mental errors for a quarter or two or three or like the NE game all 4. Hopefully yesterday's showing of the OL is a sign of things to come moving forward for this team at least on the Offensive side of the ball.

Wow, why are patriots fans so insecure? Do you need a hug? Your obsession with hating Peyton is bizarre!

I don't think so ... it's one game, the Pats got smothered by the Chiefs, definitely a good team. You can't draw such overriding conclusions in NFL, it's been proven so many times that on any given day the best team that day wins the ball game. Satisfying win for Pats fans, but never put all your eggs in one basket, each week is a new week, especially in the postseason.
Dude.

Perspective. No team has perfect wins or losses all year. The Broncos currently have one of the best records in the NFL at 8-3 and are ranked in the top 5 in both defense and offense. I've seen the team struggle in areas and games but in this league, I'll take their current record and performance on both sides of the ball.

Possibly, but I'm not so sure. I've seen a lot of evidence over the years that suggests there are two modal schools of thought in the Manning v. Brady debate: 1. Those who are compelled to shit on one in order to prop up the other and 2. Those who realize that both have been outstanding QBs for a long time. I call this second school the "reasonable way of thinking".[/QUOTE]

I agree, TD but it is just too much fun getting those who prefer #1 above all fired up. I'd bet that most on here are really in agreement with #2, even among those who appear to stand with #1. So the debate over Brady and Manning continues even while the GOAT cannot be sttled until their careers are over - probably not even then.....

Correct, both are outstanding QB's and any fan in the league would like to have either as their QB in their prime.
Both are future HOF'mers, but I think PM will retire before Brady so he will make the Hall first because of eligibility......
It's like comparing a yellow apple to a red one, they're both good apples, so who cares.

The power ranking are complete BS. But they are a fun topic so the media goes all in on them. Everyone has a LOT of time to fill, so whatever sells.

Certain teams look good during the season, so they get pumped up by the sports media. It started out with Seattle, then Denver and now New England and Green Bay. What happened with New England after the KC game is typical. By season's end it could be an entirely new set of teams, "Super Bowl" bound.

You know who should be boo'd...Bill Belichick for his nonsense at the end of the game against Detroit. Could do 3 kneel downs and the game is over but instead decides to run up the score. Pretty classless move in my book. Now yes the Detroit player diving at the DT's legs was bad but I can understand some of that frustration.

Belicheat running up the score. Just more fodder for people to hate the patriots, not like they need anymore.

It's already been settled, Southie. No one outside the obsessed Manning-haters or Patriots fans has Brady in the GOAT discussion after this season. The problem is that he hasn't won shit in a decade and never without cheating. I'm sorry but he's not in the discussion.
