Aaron Hernandez: 'I felt helpless' with police occupation of house

Aaron Hernandez is currently incarcerated as he awaits his day in court for three alleged murders, and aside from some private letters to fans, we haven't heard much from the former Patriots star.

But as his attorneys have claimed, via the Boston Globe, the police interrogation of Hernandez at his home soon after the death of Odin Lloyd may have been illegal. Hernandez said in a newly released court document that he felt "helpless" while police talked to him.

"I felt helpless in the face of the occupation of my house by the police," Hernandez said in a sworn statement, via the Globe. "I was also very concerned about what would happen to my fiancée and our baby if I refused to answer their questions. I did not feel free to leave at any time during the search."

Hernandez's attorneys also are looking to supress the evidence taken from his SUV because the warrant didn't establish probable cause.

Police arrived at Hernandez's home on June 18, 2013, and police said that when they told Hernandez they were investigating a death, he slammed the door and locked it. Hernandez also apparently was "argumentative" with police as they questioned him.

About a week later, police arrived at Hernandez's home and took him into custody.

Here's what police found inside Hernandez's home on their initial search.

The kid is a full blown POS, but I gotta say that if the DA doesn't come up with some serious physical evidence....and soon, Hernandez is not going down for these murders. It pains me to see a guy get away with killing someone, but the rule of law says that the prosecutor must prove beyond a reasonable doubt and right now doubt is all we've got.

The longer this takes to go to trial, the higher the likelihood that Hernandez walks or gets dinged for manslaughter at most.

It's more than the victim card. It's clear this is how the defense is going to try and get him out of this. Pretty sure this is entirely the defenses strategy and not just Hernandez speaking out finally.

without direct evidence a lesser charge is likely where the prosecution does not need to convict based on beyond a reasonable doubt. I figured it was probably heading in that direction. Unreliable witnesses and no weapon are not a good thing in a trial.

Without the most important piece of evidence, the murder weapon, a competent defense attorney will be able to create reasonable doubt. Getting rid of it was about the only intelligent thing Aaron did, unless the prosecutor can get his fiancé to admit she took the lock box and tossed it.

Smart move, right now the liberal side of America has painted the cops as bad guys and the thugs as victims. It's his only shot, go the ferguson route.

Been saying this for years. Without the murder weapon he's not only gonna walk but he'll probably get back into the league as well.

Aaron felt helpless because he didn't have a gun handy to shoot all the cops.

What is this world coming to. All this poor guy did was murder a few people for almost no reason what so ever. That does not give the police the right to make him feel helpless by coming to his home and enforcing the law.

Yeah the 2 young guys in Boston bumped into him at a nightclub. Maybe they spilled his drink?

Great Point. The consequences of spilling another man's drink are dire. Particularly if it was a good whisky.
