Why would USC fan base bitch about a neutral game when the school has a history of playing home and homes against non conference teams? Heck I bet USC has a travel OOC game that same year it plays Bama. It not like we have to wait long for road OOC games we have them every year.

Lol, you guys seem to be doing a lot of bitching about neutral site games, I assumed you applied that equally to all of them.

I will take that bet, since you are already playing Notre Dame at home that year, I will just about guarantee that the Idaho/Utah St./Arkansas St. team you schedule that year will be at home.

Anyone who thinks home and home series provide a stronger schedule than neutral site games is an idiot.

They have to play it closer to home because most of those broken down pick up trucks and
motorhomes.jpg20..jpg

Can't make it much farther than Texas.

Besides most are probably not street legal in California.

:suds:

Damn Wiz, Where'd you find that beauty? Mines got the deluxe car hauler top that doubles as a hot tub. You can see it on the back in gray.

We got our own toilet too inside. Its an after market job that drains into the reserve tank on the truck. The guy that built it modified the tank for two compartments and one side is drinking water and the other is for waste water. Doesnt work so well though, ya see the toilet came from an air plane surplus place and it works on that there blue water stuff. Turned our teeth blue the first time we used it, but it gave the water a cool minty taste that mixed well with some types of booze.

You think you might wanna make a trade? I got a sweet houseboat I will sweeten the deal with.

Your statement makes no sense. In a neutral game both teams have equal amount tickets distributed and it's not played on either teams home field. One team may be a little or a lot closer to the game and might have a large fan base present but thats the breaks. Home and home you get the advantage in one game and a disadvantage in the other. You can't compare a neutral game to a home and home series ( well the fact that it's two games to one) andIi don't think anyone has.
USC fans complain about the Bama game because they would have liked the experience of seeing a game in Tuscaloosa and also the thrill of seeing Bama play in LA. We will take the neutral game but it wouldn't have been our first choice.

1 year you are the away team = more difficult schedule than neutral site.
1 year you are the home team = less difficult schedule than neutral site.

Over the course of time, lets say I dunno..12 years it basically evens back out to be what the neutral site provides overall.

What is most important is who you are playing.

Yeah that a pretty quick 8 hrs...just curious why the Alabama fans are driving 80mph while the Trojan fans are driving 70mph...I guess 9 or 10 hours didn't fit your narrative? Lol, while I can understand that most USC fans are in LA, that's not so much the case with Alabama alumn. I personally live in Tampa, I can assure you that I will be flying to the game, as will the majority that live East of Alabama.

Where exactly in Vegas would you like to play the game? 36,000 seat Sam Boyd? Maybe you guys should quick whining like little babies and bring back the pigskin classic so you can play in Anaheim or the Coliseum and pretend like it's a Neutral site.

While we are on that subject...when the Kickoff Classic and Pigskin Classic were both in operation, did all you Trojan fans shit all over your AD for playing in all these neutral site games? Alabama won't catch up to you guys in number of kickoff games until this year...I guess it only matters when you do them, not if you do them.

not sure of the status currently. but there was a plan to build a new stadium for UNLV in the model of jerryworld in dallas. one of the highlights was a 100 yard long video screen

not stronger but tougher to win on the road vs some stadium within 8 hours filled with half of your own fans.

I disagree with this. Home field advantage can be a big thing for a team in college football. By doing a neutral site instead of a home and home you completely take that element out of the equation. You could argue that goes for both teams, but to be honest bama is favored in pretty much any game they play, so do they really gain that much benefit from playing at home versus a neutral site? In my opinion, no. Whereas the opposing team who is usually the underdog might gain an edge by having the crowd on their side that helps them pull the upset. Basically, they avoid having to play in a potentially hostile environment. That's just the way I see it though.

That's more of a USC problem then. If your fans do not travel well, that's USC's fault. We took over Pasadena when we played ya'll in the Rose Bowl, just to give you an example. I know Bama is closer to Jerry World, but if you have a dedicated fan/alumni/student base, then it shouldn't matter where the neutral site game is being played, especially if the team is a historical powerhouse with a rich tradition like USC. Then again, there is a reason USC is labeled Bandwagon U.......Just saying

You are only look at 1 side of it - when you are the away team. The other year, you are the home team and you gain all that benefit. Thus it cancels itself out over the 2 years.

When you are the visitor, then yes it's a tougher schedule. But that is only half of it.

I addressed that, and I disagree.

I'm just happy that USC and Bama scheduled the game for 2016. I don't really care if it's at a neutral site. Yes it would have been fun to see USC play in Tuscaloosa and then watch Bama come out West and play at the Coliseum in a "Home and Home" series, but we don't seem to have any control over their scheduling.

Link to what? Me addressing it? Read my initial post again carefully. I made the point that because bama is favored in pretty much any game, and travels so well they don't need the benefit of hfa as much to gain an edge as other teams. Basically they are simply avoiding playing in hostile environments.

Really? So why play home games at all ? Why not play all games far away from both fan bases I mean if it's better than playing at home then playing away.
I know I'm being sarcastic but it's just stupid. Playing one neutral game against a good team isn't bad but to do it instead of road games in hostile territory is stupid. I love going to South bend and watching the pageantry of a game in that stadium I loved going to the shoe that one year. Playing at a neutral disneylike stadium in Texas isn't the same. It's sad that you bama fans don't see that but as we have read you guys would be happy to play 10 high schools and claim you're number one.

Being favored doesn't mean shit, as we found out in the Sugar Bowl. But we would likely be favored in a hostile environment as well. We play in them every year still.

We are talking about schedule strength differences and now you want to bring up the pageantry of a game.

There is nothing wrong with home and home games. I'm just pointing out that from a schedule strength point of view, it evens out.
