Luke Jackson is starting in the All-Star game tomorrow night. I know some were asking if he was ready. I don't know if he's there yet, but he's getting there. His walks are the concern, but he's been much better this year.

I don't think it matters. Not with the way we've been playing at home, and with Colby, NT, and Saunders on the mound. The good news is we miss Scherzer and Verlander.
Now that is good news

We have been pretty good vs Verlander and he has absolutely sucked lately, wish we were seeing him in the series

Glad you did it, I am done starting them for awhile. I probably need to take a break for an extended period, though some how I can't seem to.

Yeah, but the past means nothing with this line-up. We are making just about every pitcher look like an ace.

Yeah but currently he has sucked for a month and a half, so I got no reason not to want to face him. May 25th, he went 5 1/3 vs the Rangers and gave up 11 hits, 6 ER, 3 BB a HR and struck out 1. Just saying I'd rather face him right now than Sanchez, who was the only pitcher we lost to in the series in May. MM is missing who had 3 hits vs Verlander that day but all the others are still playing and Roogie had a couple hits off him too.

I think Dombrowski and company will be leaving town with a few wins and some improved batting stats. Why not? Every team who comes to our park has been doing it lately. Our HFA is worse than the Cowboys.

I am not sure that is good. Sanchez and Porcello have pitched better than those two this year. In fact Sanchez has been their best pitcher.

MLB Trade Rumors reports we're putting out feelers about Andrus, Rios, Soria, Beltre, and get this....Darvish. I guess we can always listen...someone wants to give us the farm for him (i.e Texeira)!!! But we need to be really careful here. This years sucks, but we are not the Cubs, we are playing this year for 2015, not five years from now!!!

I understand thinking about moving Rios (reluctantly) and Andrus (acceptable). But Choice has not proven he's ready for prime time, and we have no idea if Profar is equal to the hype. But Odor's play has given us options on Andrus (Profar moves back to SS), and I think Andrus' career could use a change of scenery. His play is so damn inconsistent and often uninspired, IMO.

Last point, Cards are looking for a 2B. Sardinas for one of their infinite pitching prospects? I like Sardinas, but he appears to be odd man out when Profar returns...OR, consider trading Profar for one of their starters (Kelly, Miller?). But I may placing too much value on Profar given he's been out now all year...

Or....let's go out there even further... Let's offer EA to the Cards for a Kelly or Miller. He can play 2b for them until they tire of Perralta. Hell, given his erratic SS play at times this year, 2B may be a better option for him now, anyway. We may have to eat a bit of EA's contract, probably a foregone conclusion regardless with an EA trade.

I'm sure the Cards are grateful to me for offering up my wisdom for improving their team!! :laugh3:

I'm not sure if the Cards let go of Miller for EA, but who knows

I have to agree that EA, unfortunately may be high on the trading block, but I see no reason to trade anyone this season, it can all wait. Let's see how some of our players perform, still over half a season to go

Of course that always depends on the deal, but I don't see a major haul for anyone mid-season, and I say it's 100% Yu will be not be traded

Yup.
Historically we always play the Tigers well, (if that means anything now) get to the pen, there's a decent chance

On the potential trading of Darvish:

If there is a Teixeira trade possibility, it is with Darvish. At an average of $10.3 million for the next three years, he’d be a bargain for any team and a boon for its pitching staff.

In addition, there is the real possibility the Rangers won’t be able to keep him through 2017 because of opt-out clauses based on where Darvish finishes in the Cy Young voting over the next two years.

If the Rangers want to make a franchise-changing trade, Darvish would be the most attractive name. And if they trade him, they’d be dealing away the closest thing they’ve had to a real ace in more than 20 years with no replacement in sight.

Nothing in baseball is ever 100%. I've said it many times before, "everyone/anyone is tradable; it's what you're willing to give up in return which is key."

As good as Yu has been, I have concerns about him like, (1) why doesn't he rise to the occasion facing his nemesis, and ours, the A's? (2) Why doesn't he trust his stuff enough to throw strikes from the 1st inning on? and (3) Does he really want to be here long term?

And THREE is really my biggest concern.
