4th pick and no one needs a qb so i may be able to trade back a little and still get him

I was thinking maybe you trade up to the top. Should not take much, maybe a solid defensive player to move from 4 to 1. Pairing Mainziel with Romo makes a lot of sense.

If you're targeting a QB, I'd be looking at Bridgewater myself. He and Patterson could be really good for 5- -6 years to come. Lord knows if the Browns, and/oor Josh Gordon, will ever figure it out

Team B is giving away more quality starters (Romo, Lynch, Witten). Team A is giving away Aaron Rodgers, Charles Clay, and some benchwarmers.

Rodgers kind of still is a spring chicken - well, maybe an early summer chicken: he's four years younger than Romo.

I asked how old the league is because I suspect it will be hard to keep this league together - the only thing harder than an owner recovering from a couple of team-wrecking decisions or injuries will be finding a replacement owner for their crappy team (unless the stakes are so low that everyone hangs in regardless).

But very cool if everyone hangs in.

I would take Carr over Manziel by a wide margin in a deep keeper league. What I would be looking for here is an accurate passer with good vision who will rack up numbers without running a lot. I think Manziel will be a better leader than many are expecting, but I think his success as a passer will be modest, and he'll get injured a lot. And he'll need a liver transplant by the time he's 50, but that won't affect his fantasy value.

Funny - you're starting more defense than offense. And starting four LBs and doubling their points... just starting to get my head around that. Lemme analyze... back in a moment.

Okay, I'm back... so you have to start 4 LBs vs. 2 RBs. (And 2 pts per tackle, 1 per assist, is that right?)

The top 5 RBs typically average 240-260 FF pts per season, while the first five "bench" RBs (#25-#29) typically average 100-120.

Starting 4 LBs vs starting 2 RBs, it makes sense to double everything for LBs:

The top 10 LBs last year averaged 281 FF pts, while the the first ten "bench" LBs (#49-58) averaged 144.

In both cases you lose about 140 pts per player going from the top guys to the "bench" guys.

Joe points out the volatility among LBs, but there's a lot of volatility in RBs, too (mostly due to injury, which seems to happen at about double the rate for RBs than for LBs). That's an analysis for someone else - but if the volatility is at all similar, it looks like LB value in your league is about the same as RB value... and if the volatility is less, LBs are actually worth more.

So I'd float a simpler trade for your RB-hungry partner - say Gerhart and Witten for Clay and Greenway.

tlance - manziel will def be there at 4 in fact that will probably be reach at four because everyone is 3 QBs deep I am the only one who has only one starting QB. I also have Vick and Glennon. Thats why I am getting Thill in that deal Rodgers deal should I do it. But like Treff points out Bridgewater is there and even Carr whom wil likes better than manziel so i am not too worried about it should someone reach up and snatch Manziel from me.

But if I do the trade I wont need another qb cause Ill get Thill so can grab someone like Tre mason who led college with something like 22 TDs or something like that or quite possibly a wr like Kelvin Benjamin.

Treff I too like bridgewater and he makes a lot of sense since I own Patterson.

Wil - I like how you figured that out and great work man you are a smart guy no doubt . We start 11 Defensive guys and 8 offensive guys and we go a step further. We have to start 2 OLBs and 2 ILBs so OLBs that can produce have even more value in our league so a Greenway is worth more that normal. We also start 2 corners and 2 Safties and we breakdown the DLs as follows 2 DEs and 1 DT. DT is horrible, not too many top producing DTs I will tell you that. Thats why I have my eye on Aaron Donald. Sandwiched in between those great Ram's DEs he should be a producer. The other DTs that produce at that spot are Geno Atkins when healthy, Suh sometimes, and Poe whom I happen to own but he has been fading so I am going to target Donald in the draft because producing at that spot I feel is a huge advantage.

The league has 12 great guys all of whom are just as crazy about football as we all are. There are really no concerns of anyone leaving because everyone has expressed how they feel about this league and they love it. If someone did leave for some unforeseen reason we have a few guys that want in really bad and would take what ever team came along.

For the most part all the teams are competitive and to your concern about someone leaving due to a bad team in a way losing is even fun in this league because you know you will have a first overall pick over all or a high pick which guys really want. I traded a guy for the number 1 pick this year cause but it cost me Marshall, he really wanted marshall and I felt Marshall was on a decline and Jeffery looked like he was stealing the show a little so now I have a young stud in sammy watkins. He is not going to produce the same numbers as marshall this year but in the long run he could be a stud for years to come. Thats the fun trying to balance future and preseant and when you start to loose you focus more on the future and if you are winning you start looking for vets that can help you win now. it's fun, really fun. I;d love to do it with you guys. But knowing you can get that number 1 pick is a huge consolation to having a bad team and actually excites people when they start off loosing games.

Tough call.

I do think Manziel will bust, however he is still the guy I would pick.

I see Bridgewater, Carr, Bortles, etc. as solid game manager type QBs. I am probably wrong, but I just don't see any of them ever being more than the 18th best QB in the league.

As risky as Manziel is, he has franchise fantasy QB upside.

I am with you on that Tlance. I too like Manzeil the best. A lot of people think it was Mike Evans who made Manzeil but I seen him throw to many different WRs with accuracy and touch. He has great movement and shiftyness. He is not the fastest strait line runner 4.5 something but in terms of lateral movement and cut ability he is better than most 4.3 runners. I think he could be great and I really like him but keep in mind I also really thought Tebow would be great too. ouch!

I think you are giving away your current title hopes if you make this deal.

I would worry about getting a long term QB when you need one. For now, Romo is a pretty good option. Giving away Lynch for a QB upgrade is not a good short term move.

Ok so I think I can get him to throw in Roddy White> So it would look like this.

Rodgers
Roddy White
Clay

for

Romo
Witten
Lynch.

Yes? No?

Or should I still pass on it.

Foot, it really isn't close.

To give up this package, you would need a young, high level keeper along with Rodgers. Lynch is a top 5 pick in redraft.

Agreed..sure your getting Rodgers. .but you need someone with a bit more long term value than White in return for Romo/Witten and Lynch
