Thought this deserved its own thread. Just remember guys, anything we do past this point is overachieving. We shouldnt even be in the playoffs for another 2 years. This team has overachieved beyond everyone's expectations.

In saying that, I still am gonna get heated tonight and im lookin for an upset! If we can take one of the first 2 games I like our chances.... LETS GO STARS

Hopefully the stars at least win a game...... If the Mavs end up playing the Spurs, the Mavs will get swept.

Don't discount the stars. Its actually a bit of a mismatch for anaheim. I'm actually pretty optimistic that this will be a hard fought series on both sides. I'm thinking at least 6 games, regardless of who wins.

I'm well aware that in hockey anything can happen in the playoffs, especially if a teams goaltender is locked in. The Stars have as good a chance as anyone. NHL playoffs aren't as predictable as the NBA.

haha i dont know if youre serious.... but no the top 16 teams did. but the playoffs are a pretty intense battle. there is nothing like playoff hockey. There isn't a more physical american sport

whitney continues to show me why he's fucking awful. like every time he's on the ice he's offside, or he turns it over, or he can't clear. he's just ridiculously bad. Him and horcoff are the worst players on our team

Edit: As I post this, "the wizard" turns it over twice in a row on a powerplay

Really nice way to end the 2nd. Still a long shot to tie this game but the fact that they were able to get back into the game and get some good and positive vibes only helped their confidence.

whatever it takes to win one of the first two games we need to pursue. they've broken the ice with a couple here. whether they win or not, that should relieve some pressure going forward

I was gonna say.... Losing tonight isn't the end of the world. The stars scored two goals and hopefully won't have anymore playoff jitters. The team hasn't been since 2008. I would say the first goal Anaheim scored was because of jitters.

We're fine. Taking stupid penalties and look nervous to drive the net. We're just dumping it in and hoping someone else on the team gets aggresive. It'll change Friday. Win Friday and we're looking really good.

They played their ass off the second half of this game. Let's see if they translate it to Friday. Should be able to make adjustments. TBH, I really dont think they played all that bad the whole game. The goals anaheim scored were on counter attacks or power plays. We looked like we were the aggressor the majority of the game. They gotta win 3 more... so get em Friday and lets play two at home

The Stars were actually the better team for the last half of the game. They opened the game like a team unused to playoff hockey, they fell behind 4-0, and looked totally shell-shocked and like they didn't belong on the same sheet of ice as Anaheim.

But then they started to find their game a bit, they got the 5-on-3 goal, and then the momentum shifted. I am proud of them for making it a one-shot game. Plus there are some positive takeaways. Andersen proved to be very beatable. Getzlaf might be injured. Robidas looked very weak. And in general, the Ducks looked to be very unsure of themselves as the game wore on and the Stars fought back. If they can take Game 2 on Friday, the series shifts back to Dallas with the Stars having the edge.

Wonder if that injury in the final minute will change the series? Stars found some fight in themselves in that second period. Hopefully they gained some confidence after that and settle down a bit. Also I gotta give it to Goli tonight. That second effort he had on the wide open net play was huge. I was busy cussing just accepting that it was going to be 5-2. Instead he made up for the horrific turnover and kept the puck in play.

That slapshot Getzlaf took to the face was vicious. I hate that guy, so I'll be glad if he has to miss some time. But I gotta give the guy credit for having the balls to hop right up and skate off the ice after having his face shattered like that.

Yeah my friend and I were watching and both like "OH SHIT!" Then they showed the replay like twice and I didn't even care.
